How to NOT to Go Into Big Debt While Building Your Online Business! by

How to NOT to Go Into Big Debt While Building Your Online Business! Tal Fighel

Credit cards can be a great thing for the new online independent business owners who have just started their online venture. They are convenient, easy to use, and are very useful when it comes to taking those small baby steps that a newbie needs to start online.

Here are 5 basic and very important tools that any new person needs to start with: Web hosting Website name registration Auto responder Leads Joining an affiliate program

Once everything is set up and completed, the excitement starts to build and they think about doing some advertising and making some money.

A few days pass. They reach for their credit card and start spending money on all those tempting juicy ads that promises them ‘sales soaring through the roof’ results, without having any idea what they are spending on. They have no plan in place. They never thought about setting a budget.

Once they max out 1 credit card, they are tempted to try other marketing things, which brings them to the point of applying for more cards or using their other cards that they posses.

How do I know this Well, my story began 2 years ago, when I first started my online business venture. I would listen to everyone on how I should promote my current website of http://www.talfighel.com and the affiliate programs that I was and still am in. I went out and spent lots of money without planning my endeavor.

Solo ads, pay per click, buying leads, membership to this and that. The list goes on.....

To make a long story short, I have maxed out a few credit cards because I was stupid enough to spend money on advertisements without planning my budget. My biggest mistake was that I had no plan in place. I made that mistake, and I am very happy about it because now I can teach you not to make the same heart breaking mistakes.

So, dont spend money that isnt really yours. It is important to spend money that is yours and is within your budget.

You need to plan a monthly budget so that you know what your plan is and you don’t go over it. Remember, if you don’t draw yourself a monthly game plan, you can get tempted to spend on many things which can cause you to go into a hugh and never ending debt.

The problem with overspending your credit card or cards is that once you get behind, it can take so long to catch up. Knowing that you spent lots of money and you got into more debts, this can be very scary, frustrating, and can make you feel like quitting very fast.

Many people set a budget and stick to it. But somehow others don’t because they find it hard to ignore those juicy advertising words that lets them think that it will bring their efforts excellent or any results.

Now, I am not saying that a credit card is bad for you. You MUST know how to use it the smart way. If you use it the wrong way as I described above, it can mean the difference between success and failure.

So here are 4 easy steps that you can use right now so that you do go in the right direction with your online business, and you don’t go into BIG debts.

Here is a quote I use on a daily basis. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. In other words, you should plan what you will be doing and what you are planning to spend each month. If you don’t have a plan, then you can lose a lot of money.

Know when to just say ‘NO’. It is tempting and easy to grab a credit card, enter your card number, and click on the “Pay Here” button. I know all about it. So set a monthly budget and stick to it. Period.

If your plan of action in advertising does not bring you the results that you were expecting, then revise or change that plan, but stick to your budget.

And finally, give your business time to grow and never give up no matter what.

Keeping Up With Online Business Reading by

Keeping Up With Online Business Reading Soni Pitts

It can be a major source of frustration trying to keep up with all of the business-related information, newsletters, updates, offers and so on that land in your email box. And although there may be no perfect way to ensure that you can read everything you want to and need to in order to stay current, while at the same time preserving enough time to do the work you need to do to keep your business functioning., I have found a way that cuts down on the worst of the time wasters and streamlines the remaining reading. Its a three-step process that works for me, and may work for you.

1. Weed it out. Anytime I find that I am not getting full value for my time from a newsletter, ezine or other informational email source, even though I may be getting some good stuff, out it goes. Chances are that I am either getting or can get the same info through another, more ROI-positive source.

2. Save it for a specific time. I used to waste hours a day reading business-related newsletters and ezines. Now, I put aside one day to read it all. This day is set aside solely for reading informational business mail not client mail and for a few other business activities that need focused attention. I dont schedule other business on this day, unless it is unavoidable. This way, I can get caught up and handle all necessary responses without feeling like Im neglecting my "real" work.

3. Scan, cram and scram. This is the biggie for saving time. Learn to read for overall content and not for word-by-word absorption. This isnt deathless prose, folks, so theres no need to suck it in like some unearthed lost work of Hemingway. Scan any headings or sub-titles, ignoring completely what you dont need to know, and then scan-read the content of what you do need quickly to get the gist of the message. Only spend time on intense focused reading if the concept/content is difficult yet vital or supremely interesting and important. If its just interesting, but not important, you can always read it some other time when you have a few minutes free. Once youve gotten what you need, save only the emails that you absolutely need for reference in an email folder and delete all the rest.

A secondary aspect of this step is to copy, paste and save content that you know you will need eventually, but just not right now, instead of giving it a thorough read right this second. Such information includes things like a link/resource list for later reference or a great idea that you know youll need next month when you begin that new marketing campaign - or just general interest stuff that doesnt need immediate attention but would be helpful, useful or just plain enjoyable to read at some point. Paste this copy into a Word document dont forget to leave the attribution and copyright info in case you ever need to cite the work for any reason, or want to see more stuff by the same author and put it into the appropriate folder on your hard drive. I have several folders in my business files for things such as marketing, client-related info, industry-related info, and so on. Every so often, on a slow day or when I have to wait around in the office for a client or some such reason, I go through them to read whats there and weed out what I no longer need.

Using this 3-step process, I find that I can whip through the average newsletter/ezine in about 5-10 minutes or less, depending on the amount of content and that contents importance/interest to me. Since I am able to keep my ezine load down to a manageable number and my list is constantly tweaked for the greatest value-to-time ratio, I get well-read in a reasonable period of time without feeling like I am eating up valuable work time that should have been spent doing other activities.

Online Business Broker: Stress Free Help Selling Your Business by

Online Business Broker: Stress Free Help Selling Your Business Jeff Smith

Youve spent several months, perhaps years, putting everything you have into building a thriving, high-demand online business and now you have decided to sell your baby.

Thousands of businesses change hands everyday, oddly enough the channels you can use to get maximum price and exposure for your online business are extremely limited.

You have a few options:

Ebay. Its perhaps the biggest venue for listing and finding new businesses forsale, but you have to be concerned over the quality of sites listed on eBay. For every quality site listed there are at least 100 crappy, low-priced, cookie-cutter sites that can put the wrong impression in the minds of your prospects.

Classified pay-per-listing sites. The leading online business listing site is http://www.buysellwebsites.com run by experienced professional Nelson Bates. This is a super service for sites under $50,000 with proven results and proven demand. A great technique for lower-priced sites, but perhaps not the right option for the site you want to get maximum exposure and price for.

Experienced and Focused Business Broker. Youve invested heavily in your online business. A professional can help you through the sometimes complex tasks of placing a price on your business, getting it in front of the "right" buyers, helping to separate the tire kickers from serious buyers and take your deal to an optimal close.

Online business brokers can... Get more money for your site Get your site exposed to buyers with money Reduce your stress by only putting you in touch with serious buyers Handling the paperwork and forms associated with securely selling your high-value online business Handling the uncomfortable "selling" role for you - you just decide which deal to accept Let you move on to other things, confident that your online business is being represented by the best Help you through an emotional process - they will be your rock through the entire process Give you the benefit of experience closing many deals, something most sellers do not have Open up new markets and opportunities you may not have even thought of yet Help you wade through legal, tax and regulatory issues that can be quite intimidating.

What To Look For In An Online Business Broker

Finding a great business broker can make a massive difference to the success of selling your online business, getting the value you deserve.

Here are 4 characteristics to watch out for:

Experience with selling businesses. This one tops the list. Skillful business brokers have spent years mastering the art of negotiation and undersatnding the market. If you are selling an online business, then it is even more important that you find a specialized online business broker, someone who understands getting maximum price for internet-based businesses.

Proven Reputation. You want someone who has a rock-solid reputation with years of experience helping sell businesses. The ideal online business broker will have sold hundreds of online businesses already and can point out some specific examples.

Great Communicator. Selling your business can be a lengthy and detailed process, in order to get the most out of your online business broker, they need to be a great communicator - its absolutely necessary.

Must Ensure Your Confidentiality. You cant afford to have your customers, partners and competitors know that you are about to sell your business. Look for a broker that guarantees confidentiality using appropriate protection forms every step of the way.

Specialize. Focus on a business broker that understands your type of business. Just as you wouldnt go to foot specialist about your stomach problem, you want to make sure you find a broker that specializes in online business.

Finally, you can take the stress out of selling your online business by using an experienced, professional online business broker. Dont leave the sale of your business to chance, consider consulting your very own online business broker today.

The Secret To Having A Successful Online Business by

The Secret To Having A Successful Online Business Alan Cheng

For three years in Internet Marketing, I’ve tried to find what the secret was to having a successful online business. During the first 9 months it was pure money-loss. I’ve lost count the number of downline clubs, retire early opportunities and other get rich stuff on the web which I’ve joined. I thought I was robbed in broad daylight in the cyber world. The phrase “Why me” started to come out.

In the following year, I studied home business on the internet with real products. I studied people selling ebooks, membership sites and other software. I was looking about in all sorts of forums and was generally gob-smacked by hearing how others so easily make their dough on the internet. I was still looking for that secret.

During this period of discovery, I have bought a lot of information products. Ebooks which describe how to effectively write emails, copywriting, self-help books and the best systems to generate email leads etc... Software were also a part of my arsenal of tools which include autoresponders, customer service tools, copywriting software, audio generation software and so on.

I was an affiliate of a lot products and membership sites and I even created several websites of my own. The amount of money I’ve spent was starting to hurt me. It all added up to a lot of money. Not even the expensive courses I ordered helped me. I was in the situation where I was spending a lot on information but the result did not show it.

I’ve bought a lot of ebooks, courses and software and some are really good and some are as awful as rotten eggs. For a list of the ones I personally recommend you can send an email to my autoresponder at mailto:secretstpw@onlinemoneymachine.com

The question I was keep asking myself was “What am I missing from this puzzle”. From all the books and audio courses I’ve been through, I should be kicking butt by now.

It took me quite some time but I finally cracked it. I finally found the missing piece of the jigsaw. The secret was “There is no secret”.

I realized what I was doing wrong all this time. I was trying to find that one single magical solution that would crack the code so that the money will coming pouring through. I did not know that I already had the knowledge to make my living on the internet but I was still searching for the holy grail.

But don’t worry. I’ve done all the hard work and now I’m telling what I’ve learned here. If you’ve been reading books on successful marketers, visited their websites, read through forums and have actually started to advertise as an affiliate, you’ve already got a lot of the skills and knowledge to succeed.

If you are in the same situation as I was then please stop what you are doing and listen up. Don’t expect to learn a big secret on succeeding on the internet. All you have to do now is to have a target, have a plan and then take action on your plan.

Don’t fall in the same trap I did in searching for the magical pill that will open the floodgates of money. I think one of the reasons is that both you and me think that the others who are successful, are doing it easily. Therefore we should not struggle to make our riches. There must be a secret that they know but we don’t.

If you insist in thinking that there’s a definite secret to an online home business then it will have to be work hard, persistence and planning. Have a goal and never go off-target in your actions.

When we read how other people are making their living on the internet and how much they have earned compared to their dead-end job, we don’t see the hard work behind their success. The successful online business owners only tell how successful they are and how much money they have. But rarely do they tell us the hard work and planning they have put through to make them the way they are today.

Take a pop star for instance. We see them perform on stage and release albums after albums and also act in films. But do you realize the effort and hard work that they have put through No. We only see the glamour. We don’t see the exercises, training, working late nights, slimming etc.. which nearly all successful entertainers do.

So has it finally hit you in the head yet Don’t wait for a secret to come. Start right now and do some planning. Plan what to do, what to achieve and plan the schedule of your actions. Work hard and improve your income weekly. Don’t expect to be rich over night or a few months. Work on your business consistently and increase your income every week. Your riches will come but gradually. We are building a business and not buying a lottery ticket.

How To Survive With Your Online Business by

How To Survive With Your Online Business Jordan Williams

So you decide to start your own Internet business with some really great products. You have a great looking site and everything is set up, so youre now ready to jump into the online shark pool and dominate the Net right

I know that youre saying "shark pool" Yes, that’s right its truly a shark pool out there. You didnt think it would be that easy did you We all have to prepare ourselves for some big changes that will be happening on the Net.

I have already started seeing the prices for leads, banner impressions, and other forms of advertising going up as well as the hundreds of thousands of web pages being added daily to the search engines. All of this points to one thing. That we all have more competition on the Internet than ever before and it will just get worse. So the question is: How can a small business or even an individual compete on the Internet Just because you have a great looking web site or a great product doesnt mean that you can dominate your market without some help. What you need is a competitive advantage. So that is just what Im going to give you. Just follow some simple tips in this article and you will soon be running circles around your competitors.

1 Use ALL Forms Of Marketing

I know that this might sound obvious but most people on the Internet are only using one or two methods of marketing their website.

For example some people might just focus on search engine marketing by spending all their time trying to be listed #1 in a search engine. Then after they spent countless hours on this, the search engine changes their algorithm and they can no longer be found. What a waste of time! I am not saying that you shouldn’t be concerned about search engine marketing, but that you shouldn’t put all your eggs into one basket. If you use all avenues of Internet marketing then you can feel safe that you are getting traffic from several places and are not relying on just one source. If you would like to learn more about the different types of internet marketing you can sign up for eBiz Updates at: http://www.webcashlink.com/home.html

It’s also important that you stay current and up to date about any new forms of Internet marketing. The Internet is constantly changing and there are always new methods of advertising available. In fact one of the more recent discoveries in advertising is RSS. RSS is a great marketing tool to use to get more traffic to your website and more prospects. If you haven’t got a chance to read about RSS then you can read all about it here: http://www.webcashlink.com/rssanswers

2 Add More Value To Your Product or Service

There are so many websites offering the same thing in the same cookie cutter fashion that you really need to set yourself apart from the crowd and be unique. Just go the extra mile and increase the value of your product or service. It really doesn’t even have to be that hard. Just take some extra time to offer something that your competitors aren’t willing to offer.

For example if you sell ebooks, why not offer your customers the option of receiving it as a physical product. Such as in a DVD, CD, CD-R, or even Audio Format. By making your ebook a physical product you will drastically improve the value and you can also charge more for it. This idea is not just for people who sell ebooks though. You can add value to just about any product or service that you have. For example, why not make some joint ventures and offer a huge discount for a service or product that compliments what your offering. I’m sure that if you put some thought into it, you can think of something yourself.

3 Maximize Your Web Sites Profit Potential

Most people are so focused on making money with their own product that they often forget about other income streams that they can profit from on their website. For example, have you thought about publishing ads on your site I’m sure that you have noticed that all the big websites on the Net publish ads, but even small websites can easily increase their revenue by 20 or 30 percent by publishing ads on their site. It’s not hard to implement either. Usually you just copy and paste a code to your website and you can start delivering targeted ads to your visitors within a few minutes.

How about exit strategies Are you making any money from the people leaving your site Its just a fact of life that eventually everyone leaves your website. Why not add an exit popup to your site that directs them to an affiliate program or even better a web page where they can opt in to your email list. Also a lot of people just want to find what they’re looking for quickly without any hassles. So why not add a search box to your site where people can instantly find what they’re looking for by typing in a word. There are several sites that you can earn money by placing a search box on your site.

I know that these suggestions might seem obvious but if you actually utilize everything I talked about here you will be ahead of 90% of the websites out there.

Are You In The Right Online Business by

Are You In The Right Online Business F. Terrence Markle

Did you select the right online business to pursue People that are struggling find it difficult to admit they are possibly in the wrong business. Fortunately for everyone, many bad decisions can be corrected if recognized early enough. This article is intended to help you understand the available opportunities and hopefully improve your chances for future success.

Supply And Demand!

Everyone knows that the Internet is huge. Commerce “buying and selling” on the Internet is growing by leaps and bounds. It is controlled by the actions of the buyers and sellers. There is no traffic cop that makes decisions for each buyer and seller. The buyers and sellers are fr*ee to make their own decisions and pursue their own self-interests.

The Internet market is held in check by the economic principle of “supply and demand.” Buyers behave demand in a way to make buying decisions that will maximize their satisfaction. Sellers behave supply in a way that will maximize their profits. In a completely fr*ee market economy, buyers and sellers interact to determine the price of the product being exchanged.

Why Do People Buy On The Internet

In order to understand the actions of buyers and sellers on the Internet, the following question needs to be answered: “Why do people buy on the Internet” Simply stated, People buy on the Internet because of the ease, efficiency, availability, price and fun of purchasing the product or service online.

What Internet Opportunities Exist

There are many types of profitable business opportunities to consider on the Internet. The major opportunities considered in this article are: Join and promote an affiliate program. Write and sell your own electronic book “ebook”. Start an electronic newsletter “ezine”. Open an online store.

What Is Included In Each Internet Opportunity

The following is a summary level review of each opportunity:

1. Join and Promote an Affiliate Program:

In this business, you establish a relationship with the owner of an existing online product or service for sale. You become an affiliate of the owner. As the affiliate, you are allowed to promote and sell the product or service for a commission on the sale. This can be an easy business to start. It is a good choice if you do not have your own product to sell. The owner is happy to pay the commission because your sale is revenue they probably would not receive without your help.

2. Write and Sell Your Own eBook:

In this business, you sell the ebook that you wrote. Most people believe they do not have the ability to develop a topic and write an ebook. This is an incorrect belief. You have the ability if you can think, speak and read. The basic requirements to write a successful ebook are: Need an objective. Need to identify a niche market. Need a killer topic. Need the desire to write your thoughts.

If you do not have the appropriate knowledge, you can develop an ebook by using the help of an “expert.” The “expert” provides you with content for the ebook and you write the ebook.

3. Start an Electronic Newsletter:

In this business, you become the publisher and editor of an electronic newsletter “ezine”. The newsletter can be published as often as you like whether it’s daily, weekly or monthly. The frequency depends on how often you can deliver content of value to your subscribers. Distribution of the newsletter through email is generally based on an “opt-in” list of subscribers. The typical newsletter will contain: editorial by the publisher, tips and recommendations, featured article, advertisements, and links to specific affiliations.

4. Open an Online Store:

In this business, you either setup your own website store or rent a storefront site in an established Internet mall. The Internet store requires a website, products to sell, a shopping cart and the ability to accept customer payments. It is possible to have built-in traffic if you are part of an Internet mall.

Conclusion!

Each business has a definite set of activities to be performed in order to be successful.

Your success in a specific business is dependent on how well you perform these activities.

You should select an online business to pursue based on your: Interests Motivation Time Energy Commitment

Make a complete evaluation of the opportunities available before you make a decision.

Do not expect great results if you do not get excited about your business and put the necessary time and energy into your online business!

Low interest, low motivation or low commitment will lead to bad or less than acceptable results!

Examine closely what you want to achieve out of your online experience.

Take the extra time now and it may make a big difference in your future success.

Make the right decision and you have a very good chance to succeed!

Make the wrong decision and you probably will fail like so many others!

PROVEN Online Business Success In 3 Easy Steps by

PROVEN Online Business Success In 3 Easy Steps Mal Keenan

Some marketing experts would have you believe that the key to a successful home business is limited to a select few and that this chosen bunch have tapped into vast secrets where riches are to be found in abundance.

Others will push forward the idea that their product or service is all you need to make a monthly residual income a reality.

Statistically only 5% of budding entrepreneurs will make it online.

To be perfectly honest I dont know which if any of these ideas are true but I do know what has worked for me and I believe it can work for anyone who is willing to take a risk, invest the little cash it takes and make a consistent effort for the next year or two to build their own work at home business. Note I am not saying that this will work overnight, Im not even saying 6 months. Yes I did indeed say a year or two.

Having worked online for over five years now I believe I have finally found a PROVEN system for building a successful home business which will continue to grow year after year and, because it is MY business, it can be passed on to my children and childrens children.

This is not a new idea but it took me a long time to realise it and just as long proving to myself that it works.

How do we know it works Mal and youre not just spurting us a load of old cobblers

Well the proof IS in the pudding and the fact is that the five websites that I own all have a Google rank of PR6 and feature in the top pages of all the top search engines icluding Google, Yahoo and Altavista for many popular "home business"/"work at home" search terms and it is all down to my strategy.

Just do a search for the term HOME BUSINESS on Yahoo or Google and you will see my site http://www.freeadvertz.com at number 3At the time of writing out of over 17 million sites.

Try doing a search for WORK AT HOME BUSINESS in the same search engines, see my site http://www.workfromhomebiz.biz at number 6At the time of writing and climbing.

How about BUSINESS TIPS or BUSINESS NEWSLETTER, and again my site http://www.home-business-tips-newsletter.com is number ONEAt the time of writing for both terms. We are numer 21 in Google for the term NEWSLETTER out of 71,000,000 sites.

These results are repeated across all the major search engines.

Have you seen enough Do you need any more evidence that this works These are only a few of the terms that we rank highly under. We are actually in the top rankings for scores of other "home business" search terms.

I could easily put this evidence and info into e-book form and sell it but I neither have the time nor know-how to do soIf you can help me out in this area then get in touch. So Ive chosen to write this article and tell you exactly how you can build your own business to great success in three easy steps.

You have the proof now here is the plan:

In a nutshell the best way to build any online business, and the least expensive, is through a twin track approach of website search engine optimisation and reciprocal link building. As I mentioned above this is not a new idea but you now that you have proof that it works, do you have the conviction to follow through

Here it is in 3 easy steps:

1. Register and host your own domain name: http://www.workathomebiz.info/hosting.html Put some home business keywords in your domain name, ie workathomebusinesssuccess.com

Or:

Get a FREE website with hosting here: http://www.workathomebiz.info/pluginprofitsite.html

Please dont settle for a FREE domain name as this will NEVER be your own and can be taken away from you at any time or if the company goes bust you have lost all your hard work in building your web presence. Register your own business name.

2. Download webposition gold, optimise your site for your keywords and submit your website to all the major search engines: http://www.workathomebiz.info/webposition.html You can download a free trial from this site. You will need a full version to work this strategy.

3. Start building those reciprocal links using linksmanager: http://www.workathomebiz.info/linksmanager.html Put your keyword terms in your linking text when exchanging links

I currently get around twenty reciprocal link requests per day, and this will increase with time. At the beginning I barely got two daily. It may be slow at the beginning but as your business gathers momentum after a few months it will be like a steam train at full throttle, absolutely unstoppable.

I am a 31 year old father of two from Ireland who started from scratch, so if I can do it anyone can.

Believe me people it doesnt come any more simpler than this.

So if you are serious about really building a successful online enterprise then DO IT NOW and tell me about your success in the coming months.

One more thing before closing. If you are going to give up on this strategy when you dont see immediate results then please dont even beign. The key to building success is PERSISTENCE PERSISTENCE PERSISTENCE.

Choosing the Right Strategy for your Online Business: Pay for Inclusion vs Pay per Click by

Choosing the Right Strategy for your Online Business: Pay for Inclusion vs Pay per Click Richard Zwicky

Back in the old days of the Internet - in 1993, - there were 284 locations on the entire World Wide Web. According to Bill Clinton, only 8 of them ended in .com or .net when he was sworn into office. As of January 1, 2003, there were 171,000,000 domain hosts in use. In 1995, the largest search engine database was Altavista, and it had most of the Internet categorized. Today Google and FASTsearch own the largest databases. Yet neither one of them has even 10% of the Internet covered. Its estimated that more than 8,000,000 web pages are added to the Internet every day. None of the search engines are able to keep up to that pace. So how will your website stand out How will it acquire the traffic it needs to succeed There are many ways to approach the issue of marketing an online business, but for the sake of this article, well concern ourselves solely with online tools, and ways to expedite success. In that vein, well concern ourselves with Pay for Inclusion and Pay for Placement or Pay per Click advertising.

Some engines, such as AltaVista, Inktomi, Looksmart and FAST, use a pay for inclusion model. What this means is that to be guaranteed to be found within that specific search engine index, the website operator must pay a fee to be listed. Its similar to the fee a business pays for a Yellow Pages listing. These fees vary from monthly to annual. Looksmart charges a listing fee, plus a fee of $0.15 per clickthrough.

Engaging a Pay-for-Inclusion service does not come with any placement guarantees. If your website is not properly optimized, but you paid an inclusion fee, it is guaranteed to be indexed and listed somewhere within that search engine. If you want to ensure success with a Pay-for-Inclusion search engine, then your website must still be optimized. Without proper optimization, which includes an analysis from the perspective of all the factors that the search engines look for, a pay for inclusion service will not deliver the desired benefits to the website operator.

When properly matched with a comprehensive Search Engine Optimization regimen, a Pay for Inclusion program will result in powerful results: Qualified Traffic, Customers, and Relevant Traffic.

Pay per Click advertising is the process by which a web site operator can arrange for a website to be placed in a pre-defined position within certain search engines, such as Overture.

Search Engine Placement is always a Pay-Per-Click solution. While advertising websites are only permitted to buy advertising in search queries that are relevant to their content, they are not sorted by relevance but rather purely based on bid value.

Pay per click services allow advertisers to bid for each visitor directed through to their web site, based upon the number of clicks the ad receives. Pay per Click search engine placement should be realistically viewed for what it is - an online auction. Advertisers bid against each other for a fixed position within a list of search results. The advertiser who bids the most is given the top spot in the list. Each advertiser bids according to their budget, and has to know his or her Return On Investment ROI to determine how much money should be spent on acquiring new customers.

How Do I Know Which Strategy Is Right For My Website

For those advertisers where the ROI is sensible or worthwhile, pay per click search engines are valuable customer acquisition tools. But is it right for you While it can be expensive, heres a way for you to easily determine the ROI for your online business, and determine if it is the right choice for you. Take out a sheet of paper, and at the top of the sheet mark down the average price of the goods you sell - well use $100.00 for the purpose of the example. From that number, make some simple and basic calculations, outlined here:

$100.00 Sale Amount

-$ 50.00 Cost of Goods

-$ 5.00 Transaction Cost bank charges, credit card

-$ 8.50 Shipping Fees This assumes youre delivering a product, it needs a box, label, and has a delivery cost.

-$ 10.00 Customer support costs - time on phone, email, etc... supporting and processing the transaction. Whats 1 hour of your time worth

$ 26.50 = Margin

Assuming this margin is correct for your website, is a Pay per Click campaign right for you Youll need to look at your stats to judge this properly. You need to determine how many of your visitors are converting into buyers. IF your website has a 4% conversion rate, and your category is moderately competitive, you will probably need to budget at least $1.00 per click to get spot #3. Spot #3 is important because more often than not its the top 3 spots per page of search engine results that are reserved for Pay per Click advertisers.

Assuming your website gets into the top three spots, heres how the math works if you get 100 clicks in a month. Since its all percentage based, the same holds true if you get 25 clicks or 10,000 clicks.

100 clicks @ $1.00 per click = $100.00 cost 4% conversion = 4 sales = 4x $26.50 margin on sale = $106.00 Profit = $ 6.00

So, if the above were true, and IF the pay per click advertisement sent you 100 visitors per month, you would make only $6.00. Would you make much less having spot #4 instead of spot #3 If it meant one less sale a month, that would be worth it. You would make $70.00 more by selling less! Does spot #3 get much more traffic than relevant results in spots 4 through 10 Not at all for spot # 4, 5, 6, and only a little bit more for spot #s 7-10. Remember, people usually look at the title or site description to see if it is relevant. Pay per Click is worth the money if your website is not found under any relevant queries in the top 20, but its value drops quickly if a website is found easily in the free listings within the search engines.

Is Pay for Inclusion Less Expensive

If we use the same calculation as above, and your website had 4 sales from a pay for inclusion engine where you paid $39.00 per year, or $3.25 / month, your profit would have been $103.25.

What About The Cost Of Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization does not have to be expensive. You can do the work yourself, but you need to ensure that it makes sense to do so. By this I mean, is doing it yourself a cost efficient, business proposition Any time that you as an individual put into search engine optimization is time that you take away from business fundamentals and essentials. Its time away from customer support, content creation, service, administration, product research, other marketing, etc... What is that time worth Its got to be part of the ROI calculation too. More and more people are choosing to outsource this work. Its estimated that 70% of online businesses will outsource non-core operations this year. It only makes sense. Its smart business to focus on what you know and do well and to hire others to support you in the other areas. Not many smart businessmen write their own contracts - they get their lawyer to do it. They want to ensure its done right. Doing it right in the first place saves money in the long run. Outsourcing means getting someone else to do the work for you, properly. It does not mean getting someone to tell you what to do, or how to do things.

Whats Right For Your Website

In the long run, a website operator that has a well optimized website will beat out a non-optimized website that concentrates on Pay per Click advertising for customer acquisition every day of the year. He may make fewer sales in a year, but he will make more profit from each sale. If the website is properly optimized, it will enjoy better placement in more search engines. This means it will survive, and prosper in the long run.

There Are Many Free Web Hosting Options On The Web, But Do Some Research Before You Use One For Your Online Business by

There Are Many Free Web Hosting Options On The Web, But Do Some Research Before You Use One For Your Online Business Syd Johnson

Where can I find free web hosting

There are hundreds of free web hosting services on the web. You can type “free web hosting” into any major search engine and get an expanded list. However, when you sign up for free hosting account, you are basically signing an expanded advertising agreement.

What exactly is free hosting

In exchange for free hosting, the company can place ads your website. The ads can be placed on the top of the main page, the top of every page, or on the sides. The ads are usually not targeted. It is possible that they won’t match the demographics of your web visitors. In addition, they are not customized to match the content on your web page.

This is a very expensive exchange program if your goal is to build up an online business. The area above the fold, everything that is visible without scrolling, is the most effective advertising area on the entire site. This is the area you should use for your affiliate links, Google Adsense, paid links and expanded site navigation.

Some free web hosting contracts go a step further and ask for your participation in their email marketing campaigns. You will receive emails that require a click through to a merchant site, and/or fill out endless surveys. This can be very time consuming and annoying.

Before you sign any free hosting contract ask to see sample sites. You want to get a feel for the types of ads that are being shown on other website. What do you want to look for Do you see pop-up ads What about banners How large are the ads Are they just off topic or are they inappropriate Where are the ads Are they on every single page or on selected pages

Even if the ads are not on every page, watch out. It could mean that the hosting service has figured out which pages bring in the most revenue and they can afford to ignore everything else. Guess what If it brings in lots of revenue for them, it could probably bring in lots of revenue for you.

There’s free and then there’s FREE

If the space is free, what about the domain name

If your new site will look like http://yoursite.freewebhost.com you’re getting a subdomain for your site. It’s not really your unique domain name. They are simply loaning you a space for your stuff.

This is not a unique domain name that you can use to brand your business. You can’t use it anywhere except with this particular web hosting company. Ditto if the new domain names is http://www.freewebhost.com/yoursite/.

So what if they offer a truly unique domain name

How long will it take before you actually own the domain name Even the cheap web hosting services will require that you stay with the company for thirty to sixty days before you can keep a free domain name.

What happens if you want to switch to another company before the period is up Sometimes there’s a charge to keep the domain name or to transfer it. This should be clearly stated in their FAQs or in the text of the hosting contract before you agree to use their service.

Do you have enough bandwidth

Many free web hosting services are providing their services in such a way that you will need to upgrade your hosting package if your site has any degree of minor success. The tipping point is usually bandwidth. That is a measure of how much text, pictures, ftps etc. you can send to your web customers every month.

The Bandwidth in your contract is measured on a monthly basis. Check the contract to see if there are any fees for going over your monthly amount, or if you will lose your free hosting privileges.

Free host today, no host tomorrow

There is a very high turnover for free web hosting services that heavily depend on advertising revenue. Even the most successful web companies will find that their advertising revenue varies on a monthly basis. Will the company suddenly go out business if they hit a three month slump

There should be a written policy on what happens to your content if they site suddenly goes out of business. Can you still access your files Is there an alternative URL or login site with your information How much time do you have

You are only as reliable as your hosting service

Check out the statistics on the uptime for their servers. This applies to any hosting service, whether you are paying or not. If their uptime is in the low 90’s and below, then try to find another hosting provider.

You are taking a big risk if you use a free web hosting services for your business site. The inability to control your advertising, high turnover rates among the free hosting providers, and variable contracts usually spells disaster for e-commerce sites.

To run a successful online venture, 24-hour live customer service, high uptimes ratios and control of your advertising space is a must. These features are also the major weaknesses of the average free hosting provider.

A better option for you company would be to sign up for an affordable or cheap web hosting provider. You will have many service options in this category and can usually avoid the limitations of the free hosting companies.

Simple Ideas On Link Exchange That Could Mean Millions For Your Online Business by

Simple Ideas On Link Exchange That Could Mean Millions For Your Online Business Anti Spam League

There is no other alternative to initiating a link exchange process in order to garner maximum mileage for your web site. There are plenty of benefits you can reap out of an effective link exchange program. It is applicable to any company who spends money on online advertising in any industry.

Link popularity is the ultimate parameter in achieving supreme exposure on the web for your web site. Link popularity is measured by the number and quality of the inbound links to your site. Inbound links help to attain high search engine rankings for your web site, while producing an invaluable traffic stream from visitors clicking through on the links themselves. But your goal will remain unrealized unless you implement an intelligent link exchange strategy.

At the same time you should not go overboard in the quest of getting more and more links. Quality should not be sacrificed at the cost of quantity. You should utilize your link exchange process so that it can win high quality links which are links from websites that are complementary to your business and have high page ranks for your web site, not abundant unproductive links.

Considering inbound links to your web site are a decisive factor for improved search engine ranking, you have to make sure that your incoming links are of similar theme. The companies that you link to should offer a product or service that is complementary to yours, however not in competition. Irrelevant links will not fulfil your objective.

Increased and Targeted Traffic

Effective link exchange can attract larger, quality and targeted traffic to your web site. The link exchange process helps you establish innumerable fruitful partners with other relevant web sites. Thus, you can win more quality and targeted visitors from your link partners. According to a June 2003 Forrester Research survey report, 59% of Internet consumers find web sites through links from another site.

Enhanced Visibility

Targeted traffic and supreme search engine positioning strengthen the visibility of your web site. An efficient link exchange process can create awareness among web visitors about your web site. A strong web presence is the key for survival on the internet, especially when the cost and competition on popular pay per click platforms such as Google Adwords and Overture are continuously rising, and only represent a fraction of potential customers.

The more you increase the link popularity of your web site, the prospect of staying at higher search engine position for a longer period of time becomes more likely. Your web site will be listed in the search engine results if a keyword or phrase related to your web site theme is submitted.

Cost-effective Promotion

If you want to promote your web site on a limited budget, link exchange is the best option. Link exchange can save a lot of money that you otherwise would have spent on other means of on and offline advertising.

Link exchange is a very effective and inexpensive approach of gaining popularity and prosperity on the web. It represents an incremental step in the formation of a lasting web presence for your business, allowing you to build an infrastructure to generate ongoing traffic at a low cost. As more of your competitors enter the market on the internet increasing the cost for ad space, this process becomes an increasingly important part of the business model for acquiring customers over the internet.

Responsible Marketing

In today’s ultra competitive world of online marketing, it is increasing harder to reach your target audience at a relative low cost, while staying within the guidelines of the present laws. This is why organizations such as the Anti Spam League promote responsible ways of marketing like link exchange. The Anti Spam League has been created to fight abuse on the internet, but also to educate website owners on the responsible aspects of online marketing. To learn more visit www.Anti-Spam-League.org.

The Key Points of Successful Online Business by

The Key Points of Successful Online Business James Berg

Starting an online business is not a simple thing, though there is the 3U rule bearing the following three simple points, which should be obeyed to make your online business successful: Unique Offer, Unique Service, and Unique Design. As you can see, Design is not the first, as Offer and Service go before it.

Make a Unique Offer

After researching your competitors, you may feel rather confused, as there are so many of them and each one states that he is the best in the field. Don’t despair. The information you gather is necessary only to help you build your offer. You should not use it to build a case against yourself! Simply, you need all the information you can get. A competitor’s website is not the only source of information. Try to find out what his customers think about him. Do not trust testimonials; try some posts on forums, where you will get real testimonials! Find your competitor’s weaknesses and try your best to avoid them. His weaknesses should become your strong points. Your offer, however, is not the only thing to make your customers return. Your service should be unique as well.

Provide a Unique Service

The key point of Unique Service is constant feedback. Find out who your clients are and what they like or dislike about your service. This is the information for improving your service.

Do a little research on how your competitors work. Competitor monitoring is the best way to be up on what’s new on the market. You shouldn’t miss anything about them: who their customers are and why they stay with your competitor, details about their affiliate programs, who their partners are, where they get traffic, etc. – any kind of information that may be useful.

However, competitors are not the only source of ideas for improving your services. Try to study how hosting companies work. They have been in the business from the very beginning, so their experience will be of great use to any newbie to online business.

Create a Unique Design

One of the problems which rise before a newbie is the creation of a front office or website, which is almost the same thing as a front office on the Web. This is not a big problem.

Online business is not limited to website design. While having a unique website design is good, it will not make your brand unique. The real question is how can you make your brand unique

There are several ways to solve this problem. But first you must understand that as the process of site development is rather complicated, it usually requires a team consisting of a project manager, designer, coder, and programmer. And you need only go to any one of them to begin your project. The only thing that may hamper you is the budget, as it usually costs $1000-$3000 to develop a really good website.

Very often money becomes a real problem for newbies to online business, as their budgets are not equal to the cost of website development. They should pay for not only hosting but also domain registration, an advertising campaign, etc. But this not a dead-end situation; there’s a solution that a newbie can afford – website templates. A ready-made design is the only thing you need. Simply convert it into your website by filling in the content. Though you may assume that using a website template will dilute your brand to nothing, as you won’t be the only one with this template, it is not the case. The number of downloads, which is usually displayed on a website templates provider’s site, is not the real number of the sites which have been built on the template.

How can it be so Do website templates providers knowingly lower the number of downloads to stimulate purchases The answer is no, as reliable providers regularly update databases with new templates. The problem is, the moment you put your site online is the moment it can be ripped off by anybody! Besides, the largest templates providers, such as Template Monster, Cool Home Pages, OSWD and others, constantly suffer from piracy.

Therefore, unique design is virtually impossible because anything can be copied or stolen and used with slight alterations. Even custom web design is not safe from intellectual parasitism and predation.

Which is preferable Should you choose a Web Design Company or use ready-made templates It’s up to you to decide, though using templates is not as frightful as it is considered to be. It greatly saves your money. Remember that Unique Design is not the synonym for Unique Brand.

To stand out from your competitors, you should obey the 3U rule, which will deliver you the best and cheapest advertising – word of mouth advertising.

The Art of Online Business Marketing by

The Art of Online Business Marketing Arthur

Marketing is a mind game where the advertiser seek to grad your attention with their advertisement.

Traditional advertising are via Television, Cinemas, Newspaper, Popular Magazines, Posters, Radios, Buses, Taxis etc.

Online Marketing via the Internet are Banners display, Text links, E-mail, FFA, Classified Ads, Search Engine, Pay Per Click Search Engine etc.

In order to understand more about the creature Marketing, it is best for you to start paying attention to the various form of advertisement that surrounds you wherever you are. Keep a little marketing note book with you and write down what attract your attention, why it attract you, how it influence your purchasing decision etc.

The concept of Marketing whether Traditional or Online is the same.

The challenge of all Online Marketer is to attract as many traffics to their sites as possible via the various means of Online Marketing Method.

There are no straight answer to successful marketing and you just have to keep learning and trying until you find a method that is suitable for you.

Many says that Banners are lousy and attract little clicks through but why does it still exists today. There are people who are successful in using Banners and those who are unsuccessful. A lots depend on the design of the banners. It is just like posters advertisement where you make used of colors, famous movies star, funny or interesting quote to attract attention.

For others, it may be Pay Per Click Search Engine. Pay Per Click Search Engine like Google Ads word provides you a constant flow of traffics if you make used of it wisely. You can start playing with it with an initial registration fees of 5.00. There are smart PPC expert who bids for certain keywords for 10 cents or lower while others bid it for 50 cents or higher. They do it by researching and bidding for less competitive keywords. They bring a constant flow of relevant traffics and sales by studying and researching on how people search. About To Start An Online Business Read This First. by

About To Start An Online Business Read This First. Steve Shaw

I recently received an interesting question from a visitor to one of my web sites: "If there is any advice that you wish you would have gotten before you started a business online, what would it be". Rather than write an extensive email on this subject, I figured my answer would be of use to many people out there about to embark on what for many could be a life-changing experience.

===========================================================

It takes a lot more work than much of the hype suggests.

===========================================================

If you think you can put in a couple hours when you feel like it and achieve any level of success, you have been seriously misled. You need to be prepared to put in some very long hours, and to go through a steep learning curve as you find your way.

Establishing an online business is the same as setting up any other sort of business - it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of commitment over a long period of time, with many trials and tribulations along the way. Dont expect instant results, nor to sit on the beach after a couple of weeks while the money flows in - it doesnt happen.

The current success stories on the Internet have got there through months, more likely years, of hard work. You should be prepared to do the same, and to make whatever sacrifices you may need to make in your current life to do so.

===========================================================

Dont fear failure - just get started now.

===========================================================

Many people do not start something because they are afraid of failure. They are afraid of looking a fool, afraid of their nearest and dearest saying I told you so, afraid of wasting time, effort and expense on something that may not work out.

In fact, the very nature of the question in my opening paragraph above is based on a fear of failure. It is a vain search for that gold nugget of information that will prevent them screwing up.

The truth is that failure should be celebrated, it is a simple milestone on the way to success. It is only through failure that you can truly find the path to any sort of success, right from when you first learned to walk as a small child. Failure teaches you important lessons that make you wiser and will make your business stronger and far more likely to succeed.

Instead of just giving up when something has failed or not worked out like you expected, there is a really simple question you can ask instead that can lead to great success - "What can I learn from this experience".

Everyone who has ever achieved success has gone through failure first. The difference is that the success stories picked themselves up, learned from the experience, and persisted anyway.

For many people, just getting started is often the hardest part. They will think about it, think some more, and then think again. Often rather than thinking in a focused way, they will end up procrastinating, and never get off the starting line.

The important part is just to get started. Yes, you may be initially doing completely the wrong thing, such as selling the wrong product in the wrong market, but failure is the only way you will learn, and the only way you will reach success. If you dont fail, you cant succeed.

And simply by starting, you have succeeded already, succeeded in getting way beyond the point that most people reach, which is usually just saying, One day I will. Make today that one day - why wait until tomorrow, when tomorrow never comes

===========================================================

Focus, focus, focus.

===========================================================

It is important to maintain your focus on what you actually want to achieve. Are you aiming for an additional income to supplement an existing wage; or are you looking to make an Internet business a full-time occupation

Whatever your focus is, it is important that you continually work towards it until you achieve it, whatever knockbacks or challenges you receive along the way.

===========================================================

Be careful what you read - beware of information overload.

===========================================================

There is so much information out there about how to do business online, much of it contradictory, that it is often difficult to separate fact from fiction.

Rather than read everything and anything you can get your hands on, it is best to find just a few people who you trust, who have a good reputation, and who are actually qualified to give the advice they give, and listen to them.

A little high-quality information can be worth a great deal.

It is also useful to watch what they actually do, and compare that to what they say - sometimes the two are very different, and following what they do is far more useful.

===========================================================

Dont aim for perfection before you launch.

===========================================================

No web site is ever perfect, and if you try to reach a high level of perfection before you launch or make your site live, you will lose more than you can achieve. Plus your version of perfection may differ a great deal to what actually works with your market.

Once your site is functional and of a reasonable quality, start promoting it immediately. Start to build up your mailing list by requesting the email addresses of your visitors. Test what works with your visitors and what does not, and alter your site accordingly.

===========================================================

Listen to your visitors and customers.

===========================================================

When you have started and got a web site up and running, it is important to listen to your visitors and customers, and to treat them with great respect. Not only will you learn a great deal from them about what the market is actually looking for, you can also earn lifelong customers and friends.

Positive comments from customers can be used with their permission as testimonials on your web site, which will strengthen your online credibility and profit potential.

Be prepared to continually adjust your web site to meet the market demands. A web site is never finished, a successful web site must evolve over time on a continual path of improvement.

===========================================================

But most importantly...

===========================================================

Decide to succeed - right now.

My Own Online Business After A Divorce and Almost Bankruptcy by

My Own Online Business After A Divorce and Almost Bankruptcy Maria Estarellas

When I got divorced, I didnt know how I was going to be able to cope with my financial responsibilities which included mortgage, car, my kidss private school plus all the other expenses related to having a family without a husbands salary.

I had recently lost my full-time job, had managed to find a part-time job, and wasnt receiving any child support because we had joined custody.

With all this happening at once, I was desperate to find some kind of work that I could do from home so I could pay the bills.

Thats when I decided to look on the Internet. I looked for information on how to start an online business, web design, how to find products to sell and everything related to having a home based business. But guess what, most of the free information available talked about getting a product, promoting it and making money but they actually didnt say how and where to find products, where or how to promote your web site and I was so frustrated that for a moment I thought about forgetting the whole thing and look for a full-time job somewhere else.

At this point I knew that I only had one last chance at it so I decided to spend one more day looking for step-by-step information on how to set up your own home business. Luckily, I came across a very impressive step-by-step manual that taught me how to start my business online.

If you plan to start your own online business, keep in mind that you have to invest a little money. But hey, the investment is a lot less than starting any other business.

My initial investment after having spent previously around $250 in information that wasnt worth a penny was $296.90. This included the step-by-step manual, autoresponder, domain, web hosting and search engines.

The basic steps to start your own business are:

1. What to look for first...A Niche Market

Some people think that they should look for a product first and then look for customers but in reality, its the other way around.

One of the tools that I use for this is http://www.content.overture.com/d/USm/ac/index.jhtml and look in the "Search Term Suggestion Tool".

All you have to do is type a keyword and it will give you a list of related keywords that people have looked for during the previous month.

You may be asking, how do I know what keywords to type Well, I recommend you start by writing on a piece of paper the answer to these questions. What are my hobbies What are my interests What talents do I have

Dont leave anything out. Why things youre interested in Because having a home based business is not only about making money but also about having fun in the process. If youre passionate about what you do, you will suceed.

Once you have your keywords, then you go to Google and start writing each keyword in "search". You will notice numbers underneath the "search" box.

Just to give you an example, if you type the word "home based business" you will see "Results 1-10 of about 13,900,000". To see if you found a niche market, all you have to do is do the following calculation.

Supply/Demand = Supply/Demand Ratio

In other words: Google Results/Overture Count = Supply/Demand Ratio

Lets say that when you looked for "home based business" in Overture the count was 415461 so the result is:

13,900,000/415461 = 33.45681063

The lower the Supply/Demand Ratio number is, the better because it tells you that there is more demand than supply and you will make more money with this niche market.

2. Looking for a Product

Once you identify your niche market, its time to look for a product.

In my case, since I dont want to get involved in shipping products, I look for companies that once I sell the product, they will ship it to the customer allowing me to save on shipping charges and time.

Nowadays, people are looking for information on various topics. Most of internet sales are on info products that the customer can download immediately, once they pay for it with a credit card. It doesnt involve any shipping charge and the customer doesnt have to wait 2-3 weeks to receive it.

There are suppliers that have over 10,000 digital products on every topic and the best thing is that they deliver the products, and pay you commission. They issue checks twice a month.

3. Building a Web Site

Once you have your niche market and products, you need to build a web site. Since I didnt know any HTML and didnt have money, I looked for companies that would allow you to build your own web site at a very low price and that included some type of HTML program so all I had to do was type the information and the system would convert it to HTML.

In terms of the design of your web site, make it as simple as possible. Make sure the navigation is easy for your customers and dont use too many pictures. Less is more. The background should be white with black letters to make it easier to read.

Dont have too many pages. Dont give your customer an excuse to leave your web site because it is too long or have too many pages.

Have a "subscribe form" built in your web site. Its very important that you collect as many email addresses as you can because those will be your customers. Provide a free newsletter every month with useful information to your customers.

4. Writing your Sales Letter

When I read about writing a sales letter, I wasnt sure I could write anything. To tell you the truth, Im not a good writer. What I learned was that if your going to write something for your web site, write as if you were writing to a friend of yours.

Be honest, write the pros and cons of your products. That way you establish credibility and your customers will be more inclined to buy from you.

5. Choosing a Web Hosting Company

Look for a company that gives you enough bandwidth, email accounts, and support. Look for their reliability because you dont want to choose one that have frequent problems with their system.

6. Autoresponder

You need to set up an autoresponder because if youre going to send information to your costumers, you dont want to spend time writing every month and sending it to them. With an autoresponder, you can type or even copy and paste articles in advance that will be automatically sent to your customers every week or every month.

This may take you 1-2 hours to do but once you do it, you can forget about it for a whole year.

7. Promote Your Web Site

Ive found that the most difficult thing to do is this, promoting. Know why Because there are lots of companies that supposedly "guarantee" that youre going to get lots of hits for a fee. Most are scams. I personally dont spend a cent buying "guaranteed leads".

Another thing that doesnt work for me is "free ads". Most of the time, people dont read them and because they are free, these ads are not sent to anyone.

The only ads that have worked for me are the one in Google Adwords. These are based on a "pay-per-click" basis. You have to make sure that if your are going to use this method of advertising, that you set up the parameters. What I mean by this is, establish the amount of money you will spend on a daily basis so you dont spend more than you can afford to.

During my first month doing business on the Internet, I generated $532.16 working only 2 hours a week.

The feeling of checking my account every day and discovering that I had made money was so great that I decided to look for other ways to make a bigger income.

Ill be honest with you, it hasnt been easy and Im not going to tell you that I became a millionaire in 6 months because I would be lying, but every day I search for more information and ways to make money and it feels great to be able to pay my bills and still have money to do whatever I want.

Final Thought

Dont let anyone tell you that you cant make it. Believe in yourself.

The advantages of having an online business is that the expenses a very low, you get to have the flexibility of working the hours you want and the days you want, allowing you more time with your family and friends.

One important thing is to keep up to date on everything related to having a home based business. The Internet is changing every day and if youre serious about having an online business, make sure you read and educate yourself.

5 Lesser-Known Online Business Ideas by

5 Lesser-Known Online Business Ideas Dirk Wagner

1. Ask people to find a hidden link in your ad copy. If they find the hidden link tell them they will get a prize or freebie by clicking on it. This will increase the chance that they will buy your product or service because they will read your whole ad copy.

2. Start a members only web site. Tell visitors whats in your members only site and what it costs to get access. Offer them a free membership, if, in exchange they link to your web site, post your banner on their home page or agree to advertise your web site in their e-zine for a set period of time. Usually they will agree to the free advertising to save money. This is a powerful way to get free advertising.

3. Want a popular discussion board This technique is based on the number of postings made by any one person. You could give away a free product or service to any person that posts ten or more messages on your discussion in a month. It could be a free e-book, report, e-mail consulting etc. Just keep track of everyones postings each month. This could also work for e-mail discussion lists.

4. Give your visitors an instant article directory. Tell your visitors they can instantly add a free article directory to their web site by linking to yours. Just place your ad or banner ad on top of the article directory for your main product or service. All those links can add up to a large amount of traffic for your web site.

5. There a millions of web sites on the internet. Instead of marketing your web site as a web site. Market it as a free web book. Design your web site with a title page, table of contents, chapters, etc. Just place your ad or banner for your product or service on the top of each web page.

How To Effectively Use Offline Advertising To Build Your Online Business by

How To Effectively Use Offline Advertising To Build Your Online Business Jeff Schuman

First of all let me say that having spent the past 20 years working closely with small businesses I know exactly what works when it comes to offline advertising.

What I have found today is that online businesses have a built in advantage when it comes to promoting their business offline. You already have a website and autoresponder in place to lead your prospect to. When you combine that fact along with the traditional capture methods of telephone and snail mail there is no reason any online business cant use offline methods to build their businesses and sell their products and services.

A lot of online based businesses forget about offline advertising. I know I have. It is important to combine offline and online advertising together in your marketing campaign. This will give you to a more well rounded approach to promoting as well as attract potential prospects and customers you might not otherwise get.

In all your offline advertising you want to include your web site address, e-mail or autoresponder addresses, and your phone number and mailing address. This gives you the appearance of a real bonafide business.

Another thing is to start selling products for manufacturers who offer co-op advertising for promoting their products. You can read a little more about this technique in an article I wrote titled "Why Are You Wasting Free Advertising Money" http://sites-plus.com/articles/article2.html

Finally you need to view offline marketing as a long term committment. Ive seen businesses over and over run and ad not get the response they were looking for and quit.

This will not work offline. Or online for that matter. You need to establish a budget and stick to it. That doesnt mean that you cant change the ad copy if your response is marginal. It just means if you are going to run classified ads for example that you run them for a period of time and allow them to do their job.

Here are 10 offline marketing ideas. Use as many of these as possible to move your business forward.

Classified Newspaper Ads- Place classified ads in newspapers. Local newspapers often have great advertising rates that you can take advantage of to promote your business. Heres a great source for running classified ads. http://www.nationwideadvertising.com

Put up flyers. They could be in computer stores, libraries, restaurants, car windshields, or anywhere you shop that allows flyers.

Direct mail. A nice direct mail piece when done consistently over a period of time can bring tremendous exposure for your business. The biggest benefit of direct mail is it allows you to reach thousands of people at a bulk mail rate. You could not do this if you had to mail each piece individually.

Buy time on local cable T.V. It is surprisingly affordable and if you commit to a block of advertising you can develop Top Of Mind Awareness. TOMA is being there when they want or need you. If you are an affiliate or in an MLM consider doing group advertising and spreading the cost out over several of you. You can have leads routed into one phone number and divied out to all advertisers or have each ad display a different phone number.

Pass out your CD-ROM or diskette business cards at special events. It could be at trade shows, seminars, fairs, etc.

Get 250 free business cards here and leave them everywhere you go. http://www.vistaprint.com

Hold a free offline class and teach people how to use their computer or how to use the internet. You could have your web site on display as an example.

Give away promotional items such as free mouse pads. Put your advertising on the mouse pads and give them away at computer or internet events.

Advertise in card decks. The card deck you advertise in should be targeted toward internet users.

You would also want to target your offline advertising to groups of people that will actually be interested in your product or service. If youre selling business books, you will want to market to business owners.

In conclusion, if you have a business thats only based online using offline advertising to make money online is a great idea because so many people today go online to get information about products and services they are interested in.

Selling Your Online Business - Something To Think About..... by

Selling Your Online Business - Something To Think About..... Richard Grady

I was fortunate enough to spend a weekend in Monte Carlo recently and being surrounded by the luxury yachts and other symbols of extreme wealth got me thinking about retirement :-

Ok, I know, I am far too young to retire but one day I may well have had enough of working online or indeed working! and may want to sell my website businesses and of course, this is the case for any other business owner.

Which brings me to the subject of this article - the ideal time to think about selling your business and this applies to an online business as well as offline is long before you actually want to sell it. Preparing a business for sale is not as straight-forward as you may first think, especially if you want to get the best price possible. A business that has been set up in a formal and structured way, with specific operating procedures etc in place is always going to be more attractive to a potential buyer than one which is run on a more informal basis.

Usually the easiest time to put these structures and procedures in place is when the business is first set up - of course, you can always add to them as the business develops and grows but a bit of time spent on this area in the beginning will pay huge dividends later on.

One of the biggest problems that I see with online businesses from the point of view of reselling them in the future is that they are often so personal. By this I mean that the website owner has built a business based around his/her own experiences and knowledge and this means that throughout the site there are numerous personal references. I am guilty myself and several of my own sites are built entirely on my experiences and this is reflected heavily in the website content.

Now, this is certainly not a bad thing because the content that I have been able to develop with my experience and knowledge is valuable and earns me a good living BUT what if I wanted to sell my websites It is unlikely that a buyer would want to purchase a site that had a reference to Richard Grady and his experiences on the majority of pages, which would mean that every reference to me on the site in question would have to be amended in some way. Because of the way that much of my content is written, this would, at best, involve a major revamp of the site and at worst might actually affect the sales of the business who knows if the new copy would sell as well as the original

It is a tough call. In an ideal world, I would have set my website businesses up to be a bit more corporate - this would mean that the websites gave the impression of having a company rather than an individual behind them. However, if I had done this in the beginning, would my sites be as successful as they are today My feeling is perhaps not - I know that many of my customers have bought from me because they can relate to the situations that I found myself in as they are going through a similar situation themselves. Had my sites represented a faceless corporation, then perhaps my customers would never have become customers in the first place

I am not sure I have the answer to which is a better approach - personal or corporate - there are advantages and disadvantages to both. However I can make a few suggestions as to simple things that you can do early on in your businesses life which will definitely help you when/if you eventually want to sell it:

Keep accurate financial records - one of the first things a prospective buyer is going to want to know is how much money a business is making. It is no good just telling the buyer a figure and expecting him/her to believe you - your claim will need to be supported with documentary evidence. Also, dont fall into the trap of thinking that you will start keeping records once the business is making a decent income - that could be a year away and if you wait until then, you will have effectively lost twelve months worth of your businesses history. A buyer will be far happier if they can see how a business has grown from day one rather than having accounts that start part-way into the game and show an immediate turnover of $100,000. The tax-man will also be far happier with complete records!

Open a business bank account - so many people start off by running their business finances through their own personal account. This means that it can be very difficult to see which transactions relate to the business and which relate to the weekly household shopping bill. A business bank account is key to the business history and for the same reason as you should keep financial records from as early as possible, you should have a separate business bank account.

Ensure that tax returns and other formal requirements are submitted on time - if you are keeping accurate records then there should be no reason why your business tax returns cannot be submitted and paid! on time. As well as saving you from being fined, it will also look good to a potential buyer - who wants to buy a business that has filed late returns every year and is regularly fined for late payments

Speak to a business broker at least one year before you want to sell - a business broker will handle the sale of your business for you but it is important to get them involved in the sale process as early as possible. Doing this at least a year before you plan to sell is a good idea because it will give you time to put in place any suggestions that they may have as to how your business can be made more attractive to potential buyers.

Of course, the one thing you shouldnt do is get hung up on making your business attractive to future buyers - the first priority is to get it earning you some money :-

Things To Do When You Feel Like Quitting Your Online Business by

Things To Do When You Feel Like Quitting Your Online Business Tal Fighel

There are many business skills that need to be learned during your online business venture, but there is one that needs to be mastered. That skill is the ability to not give up, despite many failures along the way.

Here are 9 things that you can do when you feel like quitting your online business. It has worked well for me and others. It can help you too.

1. When you do feel very stressed out, frustrated, angry, and about to quit, take some nice, deep cleansing breaths. This will relax your mind and body.

2. If you feel like quitting, step back and give yourself some breathing room. Don’t spend too much time online. Instead, spend shorter times going through your business 15 minutes each time.

3. Exercise is one of the best stress relievers that you should do on a daily basis. Walking, running, dancing, or whatever form of exercise you choose has many benefits for a stress free mind while building your online business. Do this on a regular basis.

4. Shut the computer down for the day and turn your attention to other things in your life that make you feel absolutely great. Anything that takes your mind off your business can and will help.

5. Tell yourself that you are a winner. Winners like you never quit, and quitters never win. You are not like them. You have to know that you are a winner no matter what.

6. Dont give up and quit when you feel like it. Success could be just around the corner. Desperation has a way of getting your mental juices flowing and there just may be a solution in that flow. Now, if you were just one step away from reaching your goal, would you take that step What a shame it would be to stop making the effort, when just a little bit more would make it all worthwhile. What a shame it would be to have taken all those steps, only to miss the very last one. The next step you take may very well be the one that makes all the others count. At some point success is just one step away. Keep going and youll be there.

7. Many successful people online today overcame many obstacles and road bumps along the way. Every time you feel like quitting, think about those people and know that they never quit when things were down for them.

8. Reading motivational books and listening to tapes can be a great way to stay motivated. It has great powers to inspire people. Everyone does it and you should too.

9. Giving up is NOT an option. Look for other ways to improve your business until you do find what works for you.

Seven Basic Steps To Start Your Online Business by

Seven Basic Steps To Start Your Online Business Maria Estarellas

1. What to look for first...A Niche Market

Some people think that they should look for a product first and then look for customers but in reality, its the other way around.

Make a list of keywords use the Overture Suggestion Tool and check the supply ratio for each keyword in Google.

Supply divided by Demand = Supply/Demand Ratio

In other words: Google Results divided by Overture Count = Supply/Demand Ratio

The lower the Supply/Demand Ratio number is, the better because it tells you that there is more demand than supply and you will make more money with this niche market.

2. Looking for a Product

Once you identify your niche market, its time to look for a product.

Look for companies that once you sell the product, they ship it to the customer.

Nowadays, people are looking for information on various topics. Most of internet sales are on info products that the customer can download immediately, once they pay for it with a credit card. It doesnt involve any shipping charge and the customer doesnt have to wait 2-3 weeks to receive it.

3. Building a Web Site

Once you have your niche market and products, you need to build a web site. There are companies that would allow you to build your own web site. You dont need to know any HTML because they include some type of HTML program so all you have to do is type the information and the system will convert it to HTML.

Your web site should be simple. Make sure the navigation is easy for your customers and dont use too many pictures. Less is more. The background should be white with black letters to make it easier to read.

Have a "subscribe form" built in your web site. Its very important that you collect as many email addresses as you can because those will be your customers. Provide a free newsletter every month with useful information to your customers.

4. Writing your Sales Letter

You dont have to be a good writer. All you have to do is write as if you were writing to a friend of yours.

You can start by advertising in Google Adwords. These are based on a "pay-per-click" basis. You have to make sure that if your are going to use this method of advertising, that you set up the parameters. Establish the amount of money you will spend on a daily basis so you dont spend more than you can afford to.

Another way is to write and publish articles. This is a very efficient way to let yourself be known without the cost of advertising.

Should You Be Writing A Newsletter As Part Of Your Online Business by

Should You Be Writing A Newsletter As Part Of Your Online Business Richard Grady

Lets start at the beginning - why do you need a newsletter

Well of course, you dont NEED a newsletter BUT they can be very beneficial to your online business. A regular newsletter will do a couple of things; firstly it will help to build trust and respect with your subscribers assuming you are writing about something that they are interested in and that you are knowledgeable about your subject matter. Secondly, it will remind your subscribers of who you are and what your website is about. If you get it right, this will mean that your subscribers are more likely to turn into customers....

Ok, so now you know why you might want a newsletter, how do you go about starting one

As with most things online, there are several ways to get started but most of these methods will fall into one of two categories:

1. A third-party hosted service

2. Your own service hosted on your web server

The difference between the two is simple. With a third-party hosted service, you host your newsletter list with a company that is specifically set up for this purpose. Whenever you want to send a newsletter, you just upload your newsletter to this company and they send it for you from their servers.

With the second option, you would need to install a script on your own hosting server and then your newsletter emails are sent via your own hosting account.

Pros and Cons of each option

With the third-party service you will normally have to pay a monthly fee to use the service and you probably wont have as much control over exactly when your newsletter is sent. However, this is usually much easier to set up and maintain than the second option and is an ideal way to start off.

With your own service you probably wont have to pay a monthly fee other than for your normal hosting BUT your hosting company is very likely to have a restriction on how many emails you can send at once. The reason for this is that sending emails uses server resources and a host is not going to want you taking over one of their servers to send tens of thousands of emails. The maximum number of emails you can send will vary from 30 upwards so you should check with your host before setting up a newsletter in this way. On the plus side, you will have total control over when the newsletters are sent, since you are the one in charge of the send button.

Whichever method you decide to use and I recommend the first for new publishers, you will normally be able to send either a text or HTML message by selecting the appropriate option in your newsletter control panel which you would access via your web browser. You will also be able to generate the necessary form code to put on your website so that you have a nice subscription form for new subscribers to complete.

Finally, both services will deal with unsubscriptions and bounced emails automatically which means you can concentrate on writing great content!

If you are new to publishing a newsletter, I strongly recommend a hosted service called Ezine Director http://www.thetraderonline.com/em.html . Ezine Director is very easy to use and is completely free of charge until you have more than 500 subscribers on your list. After that the prices are very reasonable.

Ezines Are Effective In Advertising Your Online Business by

Ezines Are Effective In Advertising Your Online Business Alan Cheng

Ezines are the most cost effective way to advertise your business opportunity. Im sure you’ve heard that phrase many times if you’ve been marketing on the internet for a while. But is that a myth or a fact

An Internet Marketer once advertised that he can guarantee $1,000 profit for the user within weeks if he used the techniques outlined in his ebook.

And the secret of the ebook - advertise in Ezines using $2,000 and you are guaranteed success unless your product is useless. Well I didnt try it at the time because I couldnt find $2,000 lying about in the house or in my bank account. However, it does show the belief people have with Ezines.

There are 3 types of ads in Ezines:

Classified Ads

These are small ads which you can find at the bottom of newsletters. There is limited space in these ads therefore your ads have to be eye-catching. Classified Ads in ezines are cheap and sometimes free due to its limited space and location which is at the end of the ezine.

Sponsor Ads

These ads are placed at the top of the newsletter and sometimes in the middle. Some ezines have more than one sponsor ads. Sponsor ads are more expensive than Classified ads and can contain more words so your ad can be more descriptive. Sponsor ads are more effective than Classified Ads as their position in the newsletter is better.

Solo Ads

Solo ads is the most effective way out of the three type of ads for generating response.

Solo ads fills up a whole email which only contains your advertisement. The newsletter is sent on your behalf to its subscribers. Thus your ad will have the biggest exposure. Solo ads are more expensive than Sponsor ads but more effective.

Great. Super. Fantastic. So whats your advice Alan My advice is advertising in Ezines do work. And they work very well. Some people dont think so because after placing some ads and seeing very little or no response they think they have proven that Ezine advertising is a lie used by Ezines Publishers.

Well I can tell you now that they are getting poor responses because they have not followed the rules for advertising successfully in Ezines.

Rules in Advertising in Ezines Successfully

1. If you can, save money and advertise using Solo ads. They have the best chances of being read by the subscribers and they have no other ads distracting or competing against.

2. Work on your subject line. Even with Solo Ads, people will not open your email if the subject is of no interest to them. Subjects which promises massive fortunes in a few days will get deleted with second thoughts.

3. Work on your Content. After the subscribers open your email, your next task is to try and get them to read the content. So make damn sure your content is interesting and enticing enough for them to take some action. Believe the saying “Content is King”.

4. When you’re advertising other peoples’ products using affiliate programs do not send the visitors to the product’s website. I think people are crazy when they do this. The reason is that you are sending traffic to other peoples websites and if they won’t buy you’ve lost that lead for good.

Therefore the aim of you ad is to capture their email address so that you can advertise to them again and again. If they don’t buy product A then you can advertise Product B to them. Now don’t you think that makes more sense

5. Advertise in well known Ezines and which are related to the topic you are advertising. Advertising stock recommendations to Golf enthusiasts will surely give you a terrible response rate.

6. For Classified ads, make sure you are advertising in large numbers such as 100,000. Not many people read Classified ads and you will be listed among other ads as well. However, you might get lucky if your headline is attractive enough.

To end this article I’m going to share a secret with you on what I think is the best and cheapest way to advertise in Ezines. That is to write your own articles and ask the Ezine Publishers if they are interested in sending out your articles in an issue of their newsletter.

Now let’s think about this for a moment. Your own article is published in ezines and placed on their websites. People who write articles are given more respect and are trusted more. Plus your articles will stay on some websites for years which also means that it will generate traffic for years. The traffic is generated with a resource box you can put at the bottom of your article. You can put your URL here and also write a little bit of background about yourself.

You are creating a name for yourself on the internet scene and you are also generating leads which you can email your recommendations to. There is no cost for you when Publishers decide to include your article so the only cost coming out of you is the time needed to write the article.

In my opinion, writing articles for ezines is the most effective way to advertise using ezines. Not to mention it’s cheap and will generate traffic even after many months.

If you want to know which ezines to advertise in, the cost, number of subscribers and what services are available that can help you in publish your articles, please send an email to my autoresponder at mailto:ezineart@onlinemoneymachine.com

Pick A Passion To Intensify And Fuel Your Online Business by

Pick A Passion To Intensify And Fuel Your Online Business Benjamin Scott

I remember watching the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball, six time NBA Champion Michael Jordan. On many different occasions Michael Jordan clearly stated that determination, focus, and persistence is what helped him reach his amazing accomplishments. There was one feeling in particular that gave Michael the strength, power, and desire to succeed as the greatest player to ever play the game. PASSION.

Websters dictionary defines the word passion as a powerful feeling or an outburst of strong feeling towards something. This powerful feeling towards something can motivate us to accomplish anything. Passion is also the same feeling that has allowed hundreds of individuals run a successful online business.

Think for a moment of the many different occasions that a friend, coworker, or family member has told you that you didnt have the ability to accomplish something. After they tell you that your plan will not work then they advise you to move on to something else. This is the first obstacle that anyone who wants to start an online business has to bypass.

Heres the big question. Are you going to pick a business that your peers recommend or are you going to pick an online business that you are passionate about There are two important questions that must be considered before you start an online business. Is the business or product marketable, and do you feel passion for it If you can answer yes to these questions, you can start building an online business.

Over 90% of individuals that start an online business fail. There is only one way to fail. You fail when you quit. Some of the responsibilities of starting an online business include: Finding or creating a product Finding a web host Creating a web site Finding a domain name, plus much more.

More than 70% of the time that you use to run your business should be spent marketing. In the beginning you will have to keep your regular job and run your online business part-time. You have to set up a strict schedule and you must follow it.

Education is another important aspect of running an online business. You want to stay up to date with your competition and new marketing techniques. During the first few months of your business you may not see any profits. Any profit that is earned during the early stages of your business should be reinvested in the business.

Working when you are tired is another obstacle that you must bypass. There will be many occasions that you will feel like sleeping after working a full eight hours on your regular job. Friends and family can be another obstacle. You have to include your friends and family in your schedule and at the same time reserve time exclusively for your business.

All of the factors that we just mentioned must be taken into consideration when starting an online business. It takes tremendous amount of energy to build a successful online business. Will you do it Only if you start with one thing. Pick a passion. Pick a business that you feel an outburst of strong feelings towards and you will fuel yourself with the intensity and power that only passion can supply.

Online Business Start-Ups: The Agony & The Ecstasy by

Online Business Start-Ups: The Agony & The Ecstasy Michele Schermerhorn

Any business start-up can be difficult but the online business start-up is more so. Both business owners have the same problems of financing, product selection and marketing. However, the “brick and mortar” business owner has one major advantage over the online business start-up. The conventional business owner can see their potential customers. Their potential customers walk by the windows every day. They may even walk into the store and ask questions. With an online business, other than some hard to decipher website statistics, the only time you know you have a potential customer is when they contact you or order from you. This creates many sleepless nights.

At 2:00 a.m., an online business owner wakes up in a cold sweat. Where are the customers Have I chosen the right online marketing strategy from the millions that are available How do I know Will a sale come in tomorrow or never There are literally hundreds of concerns made more difficult by the invisibility of the potential customer. The agony of the online business start-up is in full swing. Will there be any ecstasy at the end of the road What will it take

Ecstasy will occur once the owner knows the business is successful. The elements of success are actually the same for the “brick and mortar” business as they are for the online business. The difference resides in the feedback mechanisms. The online business owner can’t count on that face-to-face meeting with potential customers when they enter the store or that fleeting glimpse of a customer as they walk by the window. An online business owner must create feedback mechanisms on their website which encourage customers to interact and let him/her know they were there.

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get your potential customers to leave you their email addresses Not only would this help you understand that people are actually visiting your site but it would also be helpful for future marketing efforts. As online business owners, how can we do this

First, add a simple guest book to your site. Some people will voluntarily sign your guest book, but many will not. So, let’s add a little incentive for the potential customer. How about associating their signature in your guest book with a free drawing for one of your products like www.sweet-vibrations.com, a one-of-a-kind jewelry site or a free newsletter on an interesting topic like www.aaronzwebworkz.com In this way, you offer something of value in exchange for their email address. And, it doesn’t have to cost you anything.

There are many free website guest books available online. We use a free guest book from www.htmlgear.com on our website www.obinstitute.com. Check it out!

Secondly, an online business owner can also add a refer-a-friend link on their website. Why not offer potential customers the ability to easily market for you They may know a friend who would really be interested in your product. That friend might buy something from you, or sign your guest book. The website mentioned above, www.htmlgear.com also offers a free refer-a-friend link for your website. And, again, you can check out an example at www.obinstitute.com. Is there anything else we can add to a website to make our potential customer more visible before a sale Yes, an online survey.

Thirdly, add an ongoing survey form regarding issues of importance to your potential customers Most of us find it’s interesting to cast a ballot on an issue and then see what position others are taking. Remember, you have two purposes in mind for this strategy. The first is to make the potential customer and their visits to your website more visible to you. This will help maintain your sanity until someone actually orders. But, secondly, you are developing a website that people will return to in the future. This will increase the potential for sales.

Each time the potential customer interacts with the website, using a guest book, a survey or a refer-a-friend link, the online business owner is building a relationship with that potential customer. The more they like using your site, the more likely they are to return. The more often they return to your site, or tell others, the better your chances of the sale.
