Choosing the right shoes! by

Wearing a comfortable pair of shoes is very important if you spend much time on your feet. Whether you’re standing, walking or running, all of your weight falls directly onto the bottom of your feet. That’s why the shoes you wear are critical to the long term comfort and health of your feet and ankles. Whether you’re wearing sandals, boots or running shoes it’s crucial that your feet are supported and comfortable. Shoes with support and shock absorption will help reduce pounding on the rest of your body as you walk or run. In prehistoric times skins or hides were probably tied around the foot for protection and warmth. The sandal, probably the earliest form of shoe, was worn in Egypt, Greece, and Rome; an early form of the boot was also known in Greece and Rome. The characteristic shoe of the Middle Ages was the soft, clinging moccasin, which extended to the ankle. It was highly decorated and was of velvet, cloth of gold, and, increasingly, of leather. Today the choices of shoes are great…wonderful styles and comfort. About the author: Mike Yeager Author/Publisher http://www.a1-shoes-4u.com/

Quality Birkenstock Shoes And Sandals by

Quality Birkenstock Shoes And Sandals Mike Yeager

Wearing birkenstock shoes is like wearing no other pair of shoes. Johann Adam Birkenstock was a shoemaker in Germany in the late 1700’s. The birkenstock shoe was designed with an understanding that a person’s shoes should reflect the shape of their feet. If the shoe is contoured and shaped like a human foot, comfort is sure to follow. For many, many years birkenstock shoes have done just that. Comfort, style and durability have all been a part of every pair of birkenstocks.

Shoes Gone Astray by

Shoes Gone Astray David Leonhardt

Dorothy lost hers. I forgot mine. My wife broke hers. I speak of shoes, of course.

So why are we all smiling

Dorothy is that sweet little girl who broke in that bustin bronco of a tornado, landing in Oz and inheriting magic ruby slippers from a dead wicked witch.

For most people, the story ends when Dorothy loses her precious slippers somewhere over the scorching desert that surrounds Oz ... much like a Congressman loses his power when he flies out of Washington and crosses over the gridlock on the scorching mid-summer Beltway.

Just as a Congressman is bound to return to Washington sooner or later, Dorothy actually does return to Oz many times. In fact, there are dozens more books in the Oz series featuring hundreds of almost unknown characters.

With or without the power of her ruby slippers, Dorothy makes her way back to enjoy a multitude of unbelievable adventures with her favorite misfits.

Shoe lesson number one. When you lose your shoes, improvise.

I discovered my shoes were missing also while flying high in the sky.

Back in my days as a consumer advocate, I was on my way to deliver a speech in Newfoundland, sharing the lectern with the Newfoundland Minister of Transportation.

Sitting comfortably in the airplane seat, my mind was bobbing aimlessly on an ocean of emptiness. Suddenly I broke out in a cold sweat as I realized I had forgotten my dress shoes at home. In fact, they were waiting faithfully by the front door, ready to greet me upon my return.

In a matter of seconds I torpedoed through one thought after the other:

Yikes! Im wearing running shoes for an important speech.

I know, I can buy a new pair when I land.

Too late; the stores are already closed.

What about in the morning

No, tomorrow is Sunday and my speech is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

90 seconds later, the cold sweat had miraculously been replaced with a single affirmation: "I will improvise"

The next morning, I began my speech: "You might be wondering why I am wearing running shoes today. Well, its about this petition here. When Im done speaking, Ill be running door to door and I want every one of you to come running with me, too."

It was not the speech I had come to deliver, but it worked just as well. Better, in fact. My little "goof-up" became a clever demonstration of action speaking louder than words.

Shoe lesson number two. When you forget your shoes, improvise.

My brother was getting married. We had just witnessed the signing of the papers at their house, and they were rushing over to another place for the the ceremony. Dont ask!

As we locked up their house, my wifes sandal broke. She tried walking in it, but to no avail. So off to the nearest shoe store we flew – figuratively, that is. This is not another story about losing shoes hundreds or thousands of feet above a desert or a traffic jam.

We knew they would wait for us before starting the ceremony. What we did not know is how long they would wait.

That day, my wife performed a miracle that no other woman has done before or since. She went into the store and came out just five minutes later with the perfect pair of sandals – smashing to smithereens the old woman-shopping-for-shoes Olympic record!

Shoe lesson number three. If you break your shoes, improvise.

Perhaps the most important lesson here is that, contrary to popular belief, the shoe does not make the man or woman. But the lack of shoes sure can build character.

And it gives us a great opportunity to improvise.

Five Ways to Break In Party Shoes by

Five Ways to Break In Party Shoes Kathryn Finney

1. Wear them around the house for at least 2 days, with a pair of thick white cotton athletic socks, using either sandpaper or a sidewalk to slightly scuff the bottom.

2. If theyre leather, waterproof the outside of the shoes, then soak the entire pair underwater for about 2 minutes. Wearing a pair of thick white socks, walk around your house until dry. The shoe will mold to your foot. Caution: Don’t try this with an expensive pair, or light-colored shoes.

3. Purchase a pair of Dr. Scholl’s Heel liners, available at you local drugstore, and place them on the inside heel of the shoe. The liners help not only to break in the shoe, but also to keep your heels from slipping and rubbing.

4. If the shoe is particularly tight or stiff, grab it by the heel and gently knead it back and forth to loosen the sole, being very careful not to break the sole.

5. If all else fails, purchase a shoe stretcher, a device similar to a shoe tree that helps stretch tight shoes. This device can be purchased from your local shoe repair shop or shoe store.

Choosing A High-Quality Pair Of Womens Dress Shoes by

Choosing A High-Quality Pair Of Womens Dress Shoes Bowe Packer

Lets face it, women love shoes. And most women spend more money than they sometimes want to on womens dress shoes. Well, it is no secret, you dont have to spend a fortune on dress shoes to buy a quality shoe that fits comfortably. The only pre-requisite is you know what to look for.

Ensuring Fit in Your Dress Shoes

Follow theses tips to help you in your quest for the perfect fit in womens shoes:

Be sure to ask your friendly salesperson to measure both your feet, because as you know, many times the right and left foot sizes differ slightly. You are also creating a rapport with this person. He or she will then be more willing to help you find that perfect fit in the nine west shoes or the dsw shoes.

Try on shoes with socks of appropriate thickness. If you will be wearing nylons, bring nylons, depending on the type of dress shoe youre thinking of buying a thicker sock might be more suitable. When looking at the selection of shoes for women keep in mind each pair of womens shoes will almost always be different in size. Example: the 7 in dc shoes will probably fit different than the 7 in the steve madden shoes.

This almost goes without saying, but you need to walk around the shoe store. Especially with dress shoes on and feel how they fit around your heels, upper sole, insteps, balls and toes. Womens shoes, as said before almost always have a different feel between shoe stores and manufacturers.

Now for the most important point to selecting dress shoes for women. The dress shoes should feel comfortable from the start; yes, I know, but there so cute. Today shoe stores an manufacturers have come a long way and are producing cute womens shoes that are built for comfort.

Guaranteeing True Quality In Designer Womens Dress Shoes

Steps for quality control in your dress shoe:

Take a long hard look at the sole to make sure it is securely attached to the shoe. Here is a quick tip to keep in mind. Some soles on dress shoes for women are cemented to the upper shoe and others are stitched. Either type is acceptable, just knowing the difference will help you in your selection.

For womens shoes Checking the heel is very important. High-quality dress shoes have leather heels, which many times, come equipped with a layer of rubber or nylon on the back edge of the heel. On the other hand, heels on high-heeled shoes for women are usually made of plastic and then have a protective layer of leather. And of course, the higher the price, the higher quality of plastic being used. In dress shoes for women you certainly get what you pay for.

A true interior inspection is a must. Because, not all interiors of dress shoes are created equal. Leather interiors absorb foot moisture best. Good-quality womens shoes are lined from front to back and side to side.

Finally, a rule of thumb to live by when buying dress shoes:

With an inspection of the eye, you shouldnt find a bit of glue anywhere on the shoe.

As a general rule of thumb, when youre choosing to dress casually, leave the high heel shoes or flashy footwear at home and in the closet. Make your selection from your casual shoe selection and leave the high and pointy heels for those going out and dancing nights. Casual shoes for women are just that, casual.

Here are a few tips to help you decide which heel is appropriate for your casual womens shoe day:

With a longer pant leg choose a pair of womens shoes that has a small heel. Letting the hem of your pants drag on the floor is even a bit much for "casual" and has a tendency to look a bit sloppy.

For the average length and slightly shorter jeans choose a pair of casual shoes that have a small or no heel. This allows the hem to be slightly above the floor eliminating the sloppy look.

The whole point to "going casual" is to be comfortable and stress-free, but look good while you are at it. So, when making that perfect decision on your womens designer casual shoes remember the tips above. Casual womens shoes can have style, fashion and feel comfortable on your feet.

Online Shoe Stores Carry A Wide Variety Of Womens Athletic Shoes To Choose From Bowe Packer

Women who are excited about sports whether it is running, softball or volleyball need the right kind of athletic shoe. This is especially true when it comes to running. There is a wide selection of womens shoes to choose from when looking for an athletic shoe.

The purpose of an athletic shoe is to protect the foot from the stresses of your sport, while permitting the athlete to achieve her maximum potential through maximum effort. This of course is accomplished much better when you have selected the right shoe from the right shoe store.

Despite the fact that in some parts of the world athletes run and participate in sports barefooted, most of us require and benefit from the use of sport specific shoes. An athletic shoe that is built and designed with the sport in mind.

The concept of "Sport Specific Shoes" is an important one. It means that if you are a sports fanatic and participate in multiple sports you need an athletic shoe that is specific to each of those sports. If you lift weights, play tennis, perform aerobics, run 20 miles per week, cycle, play golf and mountain climb, do yourself a big favor and dont try to make your cross trainers do it all. Just skip the cross trainer and get yourself shoes that are specifically made for each sport.

Online shoe stores offer any and all kinds of athletic shoes that will cover all your sports needs with the convenience of making that selection from home. But, dont forget to do your homework and understand your sports shoe need before the selection and purchase.

With todays technology and a better understanding of human conditioning, womens shoes come in a wide variety serving many purposes. Owning more than one pair of athletic shoes for women is now a must if you do more than running.

The multibillion-dollar industry offers an overwhelming number of styles, brands, colors, attributes and prices to choose from.

Should you run out and splurge on the latest pair of Adidas athletic shoes Are they really better than the Reebok, Brooks or Puma athletic shoes Not necessarily — the more expensive a pair of womens shoes are doesnt mean the shoes will fit you better and be comfortable. Women should pay special attention to comfort, not design or price. When choosing the right pair of shoes from your favorite athletic shoes store that basing your selection on comfort will save you pain and money in the long run.

The Internals Of An Athletic Shoe

Now lets run down the internals of an athletic shoe. Understanding these parts will bring you a clarity to what you are looking for in that perfect running, tennis or soccer shoe.

Insole - This is the portion of the sole that fits inside the shoe to provide cushioning and arch support.

Last - This component of the shoe is the footprint that the shoe is built around. The last comes in a curved, semicurved or straight style.

Outsole - This the outermost portion of the sole, hence the name, that makes the contact with the ground and is treaded for traction.

Upper - Top part of the shoe where the laces reside, fancy designs and bright colors that keep the shoe intact and keeps it wrapped around your foot during your athletic activity.

Midsole - Is usually the only real padded region that lies between the insole and the outsole and provides your foot with comfort, cushioning and shock absorption.

Counter - This region is located around the heel of the shoe and is rigid that provides the stability of the athletic shoe and keeps the heel of the foot in its proper place.

Toe box - Located at the tip of the shoe that gives the toes wiggle room.

Heel tab - Notched area of the ankle collar that reduces stress on the Achilles tendon.

Ankle collar - The region that is around the ankle and is padded for fit and of course comfort.

So, with this information you are now armed with some basics that should make your search at the athletic shoes stores to be more productive.

Remember, comfort in your designer athletic shoes should be priority number 1. With this in mind it should be such a mystery as to what athletic shoe for women is right for you.

Stay tuned to part number 2, where we will go into further detail and tie it all together as to what shoes are right for what athletic activity.

Choosing The Proper Athletic Shoe by

Your feet have 206 bones and over 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons so it's important to take care of them by wearing the proper athletic shoes. Choosing the right pair of sport shoes is important to the comfort of your feet. Unfortunately we often choose our shoes according to our fashion tastes instead of fitting them for the activity. I'm just as guilty as the next guy, after all I know what I like in fashion so it's much easier to pick out a shoe that looks instead of finding what's appropriate for my foot. One common mistake I've made over the years is giving in to buying the cheap shoes. BIG MISTAKE! Particularly for athletics. For example, let's say you want to start running and buy a pair of cheap running shoes. First of all, cheap shoes are not made to form to your foot or absorb the impact of running and they are certainly not made to last. After a few miserable runs in your cheap shoes you might drop the sport pretty fast. Typically, a good athletic shoe will cost between $70 - $90. Anything more and you are buying style. Anything less and you are probably getting shoes that have been on the shelf awhile where the glue can harden and dry out and the soles can dissipate. Wear the shoe that fits the sport. If you're walking, wear a shoe designed for walking. If running, wear a runners shoe and if weight training wear shoes that will support muscle activity. Each shoe is designed for the strength, cushion and stability in the areas that need it according to the type of sport you are involved in. Buying a properly designed shoe will certainly add to your comfort and reduce injury as well. Shoes that have soles that bend at the ball of the foot also offer much better support than soles that bend under the arch. The shoe's material should be flexible and allow your foot to "breathe". Shoes that have a mesh fabric are the best. A good sport shoe should be light and able to breathe. You should also think about injury protection when buying your shoes. Don't be fooled into thinking a shoe has to be heavy to offer good support. If you have calf or Achilles tendon pain then heavy canvas shoes have been known to make the pain worse. If you take care to buy the right shoes you'll get so much more out of your favorite sport by sticking with it, reducing injuring and of course, enjoying it so much more.

Choosing the Right Running Shoe by

Purchasing anything new can be a lot of fun, but it can also be very frustrating. Purchasing a pair of Running shoes is no different, and do the nature of our bodies I wouldn’t recommend rushing into a pair of shoes just because they are cheap or convenient. No two people have exactly the same foot; however manufactures have divided shoes into three different categories: Cushioning, Stability, and Motion Control. Within these three categories their can be a lot of variation, but it is a good base guide to start with.Cushioning - Cushioning shoes are shoes that have little to no lateral support. These shoes are good for runners who do not need this support, and have neutral feet. Generally this type of shoe will be for the runner with a high arch. Instances where this type of shoe is not right is in a case where you are a pronator or an overpronator.Stability - Stability shoes are a mid range shoe category which offer a balance between cushioning and motion control. This shoe is for a runner who has a normal arch, lands on the outside of the foot and rolls forward. If you are unsure of where else to be this category is a good place to start. Motion Control - The motion control category is for runners who really need support in a running shoe. Extreme pronators and overpronators can take advantage of a Motion control shoe, as well as a runner with weak ankles and other foot problems that would benefit from a shoe with a lot of stability.Of course with only three categories like I mentioned above, there is a lot of room for variation. This is only meant to be used as a quick guide for things to look for in running shoes. I would recommend visiting a running store and having an employee look at your feet to give you a good idea of what category your feet fit in. If you have serious foot complications like extreme pronation, fallen arches, etc I would recommend visiting a foot doctor, as running shoes by themselves might not be enough. You could require orthotics, or even just simple strengthening exercises to get and keep you on your feet.--Feel free to reprint this article as long as you keep the following caption and author biography in tact with all hyperlinks.

Easy Guides To Choose Different Sport Shoes by

Wearing the right shoes is an important aspect of foot health. Better to be careful when choosing shoes. If you buy wrong shoes it can cause foot problems. Even though, that doesn’t mean the right shoes can correct your problem. It can only prevent problem on your foot.If you like sports -- basketball, golf or just walking -- choose the best shoes. Bad shoes can lead not only to foot and ankle problems, but leg, hip, and even back pain as well. That's because alignment begins with your feet and moves up to influence the rest of your body.Sure there are other activities you do during your life time. Starting with walking around the house or traveling to work or maybe doing exercise and other activities, there are always shoes for all situations. Each shoe has their own characteristic such as look, feel, smell and how the shoes react to you, the wearer. Here are some checklists you need to know when buying shoes.- Check the shoes closely by touching it.- Check whether the soles is strong and flexible when gripping the surface- Insoles should be cushioned to absorb the jolts of walking on hard surfaces.- Arch supports distribute weight over a wider area.- Shoes made of leather are best because leather breathe like skin and mold to your foot.- Don’t buy shoes if not comfortable.- Don't plan on shoes stretching with wear.- Try shoes for both feet. Each foot is often different size.- Do shoes shopping at the end of the day because feet swell to their largest at that time. That’s why always buy shoes for the biggest foot.- Size depends on shoe make and style, too. Don't insist you always wear one size if the next feels better.- The heel should fit snugly and the instep should not gape open.If you already know what you should do before buying shoes, another thing you have to consider is deciding which shoes for what occasion. Obviously you would not play tennis wearing your high heel dress shoes, right? Here are some of the shoes that most people would have:1. Dress shoes: This include dress boot, bridal shoes, prom shoes etc. You can wear dress shoes to formal occasion such as to a dinner, job interview or school event. At least you need one pair of dress shoes, specially the simple traditional dressy shoe which is a mid height heel at about 2.5 or 3 inches high, black and opened toe.2. Casual Shoes: This includes sneaker, sandal, boot, etc. This is for more relax occasion. It can be any shoes with various colors, style and for any occasion. This shoe is more reflecting your taste, your favorite colors and your interests. Casual shoes can be inexpensive, since it is made of different material, not merely leather. The color is so various, that you can choose what ever color you like. You can wear it for shopping, relaxing, to cinema etc.3. Athletic Shoes: It includes all sport shoes. There are so many brands that you can choose, but there are a few brand which specialize in sport footwear such as Adidas. You wear athletic shoes during your exercise, jogging, walking, running and other sport activities. However, currently there are some people also consider this type of shoes as casual shoes, so they wear it everyday for their activity. That’s okay too.Shoes not only influence how others perceive you but they also influence how you views yourself. From the style you chooses and how well you are maintained, people can determine the stock your places on their appearance. Show yourself that you are a classy person by wearing the right shoes!

Hiking Shoes And Thin Socks - A Backpacking Winner by

Hiking shoes versus hiking boots? Hiking shoes win. Okay, next issue? No, really. Hiking or running shoes are better for most backpacking trips, at least during late spring, summer and early fall. Boots are heavy, hot, stinky, and stay wet forever. A pound on your feet is like five on your back (some say six), so three-pound boots leave you much more tired at the end of the day.Hiking Shoes And Ankle SupportYou may have heard arguments for the necessity of ankle support, but throughout history people managed without stiff ankle-supporting boots. The problem is weak ankles, not a lack of support. You can solve this by walking a little each week on uneven ground (not in the mall). Some may need boots, but be sure your ankle problems are not just due to a lack of exercise before you settle for backpacking in hiking boots. You may also need hiking boots if you carry more than thirty pounds when you backpack. Cut the weight down, though, and you'll be more comfortable anyhow. Why Running Or Hiking Shoes?Feet stay cooler in a good running shoes than in hiking boots. This means fewer blisters. After switching to running shoes and lightweight socks years ago, I stopped getting blisters. I don't mean fewer blisters. I mean haven't had one blister since I switched. Not even after a 110-mile 7-day trek in the Rockies, for example. How To Choose Your ShoesTry to keep below two pounds per pair, unless you have size 13 feet. If the weights are not shown in a catalog, you'll have to guess which hiking shoes are lighter based on the description and photo. Quality shoes have soles stitched to the uppers, so look under the insoles (a removable insole is another sign of quality shoes). You can usually find a good pair of running shoes that weighs less than 28 ounces for under $80, or half of that on closeouts. There's nothing quite as liberating as ditching the heavy pack and heavy boots and hitiing the trail in running shoes. You get to go more miles, and in comfort. You get to run up a hill just to see what's there. I have yet to meet a person who has tried backpacking in hiking shoes or running shoes - and then returned to boots.

How to Pick the Right Pair of Running Shoes by

Are you ready to start a new healthy habit of running or a seasoned runner looking to replace an old pair of shoes? Either way, it is very important to buy the right pair of shoes for you – not necessarily the ones that are the most technically advanced or on the sale rack!

At least for me, it is so tempting to hit the sale rack when I begin my search for new shoes. It kills me to spend anymore than I absolutely have to, but with running shoes, I have found, it is one thing to not spare any expense. Finding a great pair of running shoes is sure to save most people money with comfort and safety. Finding a pair for $49 does not do a lot of good if you hurt your knee the next day! There are so many brands and styles of shoes that it’s hard to know where to start when you walk into a retailer. If you’re not sure where to start in the process, note the techniques listed below for finding the perfect shoe for your needs.

Find Your Foot Type:

Figure out how you run (outside of your foot, outside to inside, or straight down the middle). The easiest way to determine how you run is to look at an old pair of running shoes. If the shoe is worn on the outside of the heel and rolls inward excessively, you have a pronated foot type – the majority of the population (60%) fits into this category. You’re more likely to have this foot type if you are flat footed.

If you have high arches, your foot is rigid and doesn’t pronate (roll inward) so there is not an effective shock absorber. Roughly 30% of the population has high-arched or supinated foot types.

If you land on the outside of your heel and roll inward slightly to absorb shock, you are of normal weight, you are considered the most sound (biomechanically) runner. Only about 10% of the population has neutral/ideal feet.

Tips for Your Trip to the Shoe Store:Examine your old shoes for tread wear.Socks are important. Wear your running socks when you try on.If your feet are different sizes, buy for the larger one.Shoes with better breathability will help curb sweating.Grooves in the sole offer more flexibility.Flat feet need support rather than flexibility. If you tend to overpronate, look for shoes that will lace higher up so you can better customize the fit of the shoe.Shoe should feel comfortable right way – they don’t need to be broken in.

When to Buy New Running Shoes:Look at the soles. If they are worn out or very unevenly worn it is time for a new pair.If you’ve traveled roughly 400-500 miles on your treadmill or it’s been six months, it is time for a new pair. Remember, if you are wearing your shoes for other activities, those miles count too!

What questions should the salespeople ask?How long have you been running? How much mileage are you doing per week? Are you training for a particular event?Where do you do most of your running? How much do you weigh? Are you aware of any foot problems?

Make sure that your shoes fit properly, below are some tips to help:Check for adequate room at the toebox by pressing your thumb onto the shoe just above the longest toe. Thumb should fit between the end of the toe and the top of the shoe. There should be adequate room in the widest part of foot. The shoe shouldn’t be tight and your foot shouldn’t slide around. You heel should fit snugly against back of shoe without sliding up and down when running.Run around in the store – try on a hard surface, not just on the carpet to get a true feeling on how the shoe will react outside.

Simple solutions will get your running. The more you know about your feet and what activities you will be partaking in, the more prepared you will be to find the right pair of shoes. Shoes are important for the health of your feet, but for the rest of your bones and joints as well.

Nike Dri Fit Tiger Woods Golf Shoes-Not Just Golf Shoes by

Nike Dri Fit Tiger Woods golf shoes and other quality brand shoes are not just for playing golf. These shoes are meant to be worn like athletic shoes, even like hiking shoes and walking shoes. These shoes are meant to protect your feet in all sorts of terrain and in all sorts of weather conditions. That’s why Nike has designed the Tiger Woods brand shoes, and other models like the Nike Air Max Mystify golf shoes women and men’s variety, to safeguard your feet with quality construction and durable materials. The shoe heel construction on these Nikes includes a lower profile heel with a slight divot on the outer side of the heel. This shoe feature makes sure to secure your foot and ankle in the Nikes, to ensure that your foot is supported each and every time the shoe strikes the ground.Nike designs its best golf shoes as if they're a pair of high caliber athletic cross-training shoes. These Nike shoes still come with the features that make them excellent golf shoes, such as strong spikes and great support. But they also come with heel construction and sole support that usually comes with shoes meant to handle the stress of repetitive walking. For the soles, the Nikes have a lower midsole, too, since golfers don't need as much cushion as, say, a runner. But golf players still do need some cushion from their shoes for their 18 holes of golf, so Nike has just the right amount. With this support and padding in their shoes, Nike makes sure that you can concentrate on your golf game, not your feet.

Matt Potts Stands Tall in His Latest Fashion Athletic Shoes
by

Release of new patented fashion athletic shoes (skateboard style)

FREMONT, CA December 31 2003-- At 5’9” Matt Potts hardly seems a tall man, but if you look closely you will find he is not standing alone. Beneath his medium height he gets a lift from a stack of cash – stowed away safely in his shoe sole. Mr. Potts is betting that stack of cash will grow in the years ahead. Mr. Potts has incorporated a wallet feature …make that two wallets … into the soles of his company's ArchPorts – fashion athletic shoes (skateboard style) named for the wallet's arch location and port-like use. The concept is new and "radically innovative," according to 41-year-old Potts, who came up with the idea back in 1989 while playing tennis. Playing on the courts across the street from his home, Potts had nowhere to put his house key, so he threw it on the court. After his game, he thought "how could someone integrate this into the foot? I considered that the mighty powers of the universe (god) must have intended some use for the arch of the foot.” recalls Potts, who was earning his masters degree at the time. It took him over ten years to finally get around to file the patent, and in August of 2000 his patent issued. At the same time his first prototype was complete. Soon after ArchPort was offered through his website and through several local retailers. The thought was simple enough, but getting the product to where it is today took half a decade of product development, design, testing and just plain ingenuity. Potts concedes that in the last two years, since ArchPort’s introduction, he has fallen short of his expectations. Potts says “ the footwear industry is much more fashion oriented than I had imagined. While the product has huge appeal on its own, in order to appeal to retailers and compete on a national scale, I needed to change market direction, along with product design." "Ironically, fashion appeal is ArchPorts’ best feature,” says Potts. But convincing retailers of this is not so easy. Potts believes that carrying a wallet is not fashionable because jeans don’t fit nicely, look good or fit comfortably with a wallet protruding. “Can you imagine ladies with tight jeans, carrying a wallet in their back pocket? To me it just detracts from the scenery,” says Potts. Potts believes his recent strategic adjustments will bring him success soon. But he again concedes that he will need some luck and good fortune if he is to succeed on his own terms, given the current economic climate. It’s hard to say whether these shoes will meet their market, but I am sure I don’t want the ladies looking at my !@$ (expletive), although it may look less lumpy in these shoes. Nevertheless, this product is extraordinary, with no other comparative footwear product in decades. I don’t even think Nike Shox carry an issued patent. And at a tad under 6 feet, I look Mr. Potts directly in the eye, so it is certainly true that he stands a little taller in his ArchPorts. Looking ahead, Potts envisions Global Positioning Systems (GPS) transceivers, computer data, remote controls, wireless MP3 players, battery modules, heaters and other gadgets placed in sandals, platform shoes, boots, and other types of footwear. "The patent covers many potential configurations using the ArchPort cartridge, “ says Potts. You may contact Matt Potts to view the latest ArchPort fashion athletic and skateboard shoes. Running Shoes for a Marathon by

Approximately two months ago, I participated in and completed my first marathon. I grew up playing soccer and had run a little track back in middle school, but had never before completed a race longer than a 5K.As I began to research different training programs and decide which race to choose for my first event, I quickly realized that there was some essential equipment I was going to need in order to succeed. At the top of this list was clearly a high-quality pair of running shoes. Little did I know at first, but the selection of the right running shoes can be more complex that one might imagine. After having my feet measured and a running analysis performed on my stride, I soon picked out a pair of Asics running shoes that felt like I was running on air. These shoes not only provided the stability I needed but were light enough to not feel like I was running in boots. I paid the $110 required and was ready to go.As the 16 weeks of training passed, I was grateful to have a good pair of running shoes. The shin splints that I got at the beginning of training soon faded and my running became much more enjoyable. In the end, I not only finished my first marathon, but completed it in under my goal of 4 hours.I firmly believe that my success was due, in part, to choosing the right pair of running shoes. I would encourage anyone wishing to start a running program to spend the time and money to find a high-quality pair of running shoes. Your running success may just depend on it.

Vans Shoe Co. by

This is a review of Vans Company..It would be hard to believe that anybody reading this article has never heard of Vans. The name is symbiosis (connection with) BMX biking, skateboarding and other extreme sports. I bought a pair of Vans shoes 3 years ago and I still use them. I like to wear them when I ride my BMX bike on the hot black asphalt slab scuffing like a madman trying to land that same flatland trick. The Vans seem to hook easier to the tire when scuffing compared to my other biking shoes. The Vans Shoe company has been around a long time so we did some research on the company. Here are some of the facts of Vans. The California based company opened their first skatepark in the Midwest. It is a 53,000 square foot indoor and outdoor located in Novi, Michigan (Detroit). Other Vans skateparks include cities Moorestown, NJ, Woodbridge, VA, Buford, GA, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Orange, CA, Milpitas, CA and Westminster, CO. Some of Van's top professional riders include Tony Alva, Omar Hassan and Salman Agah for skateboarding and for BMX riders T.J. Lavin and Heath Pinter. It is a known fact they hold some major contests such as the Vans Triple Crown. But something that was just started is the Annual Mountain Dew Free Flow Tour. The tour travels across the nation holding amateur skateboarding contests. This tour is dedicated only to the amateur skateboarder. The company has done a lot to give back to the consumer of Vans products.

What to Look For When Buying Athletic Shoes by

You've finally had to throw out those cross-trainers. They've been your companions through miles of workouts and it breaks your heart to have to dump them. It's been so long since you've had to purchase a new pair, you don't know where to begin. Here's a short guide to help you decide which pair to buy next. When shopping for athletic shoes, you should already know what sport you will be using them for. Will you be using them to train for a marathon, or will you wearing them to basketball practice? Running shoes are designed differently than, say, tennis or cross-training shoes, and choosing the right shoe can help your performance and help you to avoid injuries. Athletic shoes fall into different categories. For example, there are sneakers which are appropriate for running on a track or road, and they are those models which are designed to give you traction when trail running. Likewise, tennis shoes are designed to allow the wearer to get the best traction while running and making those quick turns on the court. Baseball and soccer shoes, or 'cleats,' are usually spiked to let you run in soft grass and mud. Once you've decided on which type of shoes you want to buy, it's time for you to try them on. It is important to try on the shoes, at the end of the day, when your feet are their largest. It may sound strange, but your feet swell during the course of the day, so if you want to get the best fit, you should try them on towards the end of the day. It is also very important to remember to bring the type of socks that you will be wearing with them, to guarantee a proper fit. When you have them on, walk around. This will give you a better idea as to whether they really will be comfortable or not. And remember, the shoe should not slip or slide on your foot when you are wearing them.Purchasing your next pair of sports shoes should be fun and with a little bit of planning, they should last for a long time.

Workout Shoes - Shoes for Strength Training by

I've always worked out in just a plain pair of tennis shoes. Rarely to I see or even think that using special shoes would make any difference at all. However, I began to think of better shoe support when I started doing heavy squats. This prompted me to do a little research in specific type shoes for working out that would give me better ankle support and put my feet in a more level position for squats and leg presses. After some Googling around, I came across the Otomix brand of shoes. There's virtually nothing on the net about workout shoes. There's even less in bodybuilding forums about the subject. Yet soccer players have special shoes, and so do most other athletes. Tennis shoes are great for running but they didn't seem to be wonderful when it came to squatting and doing other heavy leg exercises. These shoes ( a few versions are available) sell for around $95 on average depending on the website you find, and the sales being offered. With some clever searching, you can find a great price. I ordered my Otomix Ultimate Trainers online and was pleased to see many e-mail and tracking notifications about my order. According to Otomix, these workout shoes were specifically for:Ultimate Trainer has been designed specifically for weight training and incorporates the new High Performance Bodybuilding system. The HPB system provides a combination of comfort and support utilizing a special wrap around strap adjusted by our innovative lacing system. This shoe is a must for the serious bodybuilder.Note: Their shoes run a half size small compared to your true shoe size. They suggest that you order a half size larger.Quickly I opened the box and found everything intact and in brand new condition. I was ready for my leg workout.Adjusting the laces properly is a must. It came from the factory like most shoes. It wasn't laced thru each of the holes. I fixed the laces and found the shoes to fit nicely and very snug. I felt ankle support and was able to tighten them like a snowboarding boot but not so tight as to be uncomfortable. I headed off to the squat rack.Doing squats is something I enjoy. Honestly, I enjoy them a bit more now with full support for my feet. These shoes were great first time. NO break in period was necessary. They were comfortable, gave strong ankle support and allowed me to do full squats without any annoying feet issues. I felt like my feet were flat and firmly place on the floor with good traction. Moving onto the leg press, same thing. NO odd arches, no slippage, and good solid firm foot placement for a good pressing motion.I only use these shoes on leg days. That is really where I want the support. I do not wear them outside for walking around. They are just like gym gloves. Used in that environment as appropriate. The soles of the shoe are good for traction in a smooth, flat gym environment. These particular shoes are not made to be worn as a street shoe. That would be a big mistake. You'd wear out the tread in days and be out $100 very fast. However, in the gym, where they are meant to be, these shoes were incredibly superior. My overall reaction and opinion of my Otomix workout shoes are very favourable. I would recommend them to anybody looking for some comfortable, high quality, long lasting footwear that is designed specifically for the gym.

Do You Need An Expensive Padded, Cushioned, Air Bubbled, Gelled Running Shoe? by

Nike Free does not think so; and neither should you. Read on to find out why this concerns every one of us, our health and a good deal of wasted money. This is not a story of the Nike Free shoe; it’s about our freedom and growth. It has been a really long time since a major shoemaker has stepped forward and acknowledged that the human foot is the perfect running, walking machine. Hence, a good shoe should be simple and that allows this perfect machine to execute flawlessly, rather than attempt to take over Nature’s function. This is the core concept of the Nike Free line of shoes. Shoes that both mimic and allow the foot its freedom to get things done - in this case, walking, jogging and running. Nonetheless, detractors argue that the lack of structural support and cushioning undermines the shoe’s ability to be a serious running shoe. The experts are spewing out terms like – Stress Fracture, Calf Injury, Knee Injuries, Plantar Fasciitis. The Footwear Market & You In the footwear industry, structural support and cushioning are considered the benchmarks of shoe superiority. The more features a shoe has; the more acclaim it will receive and, coincidentally, the more expensive it will cost. Do we, as consumers, really need all that expensive support and cushioning? Is it really better for us? For centuries across civilizations, shoes were only worn as status symbols by aristocrats; while the common folk went about barefooted. The very people, who walked the most and ran the most, went about their daily lives barefooted! Obviously, shoes did not come about as an invention because our feet failed; it came as an invention of luxury and ego. In the centuries that have gone by, our feet still maintain this same powerful ability. Today, we have barefoot marathon runners across the world and complete communities of tribal people who live barefooted. Our God given machine of motion still explodes power in this day and age! Yet, weekend runners who barely run a tenth of a marathon are spending hundreds of dollars to buy advanced technology for their feet! Why is the man on the street spending so much on high – tech shoes when marathon runners and hunters happily thrive without them? The answer is advertising and product branding. Shoemakers astutely noticed that city folks are mostly overpronators or underpronators. Hence, in an effort to capitalise on this underlying dysfunction, they design shoes that support and cushion shock. Consequently, detaching and depriving the foot from its primary role as locomotion point guard. Overpronation, Underpronation and Neutral Feet More than 75% of city dwellers are either overpronators or underpronators. Essentially, it means that your feet lose their ability to accommodate ground unevenness and absorption of daily walking stress. Your foot has curved in one direction and cannot return to neutral state – think of it as a jammed window that cannot close. In its functional state, our feet are made to pronate; curve to suit the contours of the ground. This is how we can run side ways on slopes and edges without tumbling over. Hence, feet with full range of pronation can walk, run, jog barefooted and not injure themselves (assuming you are not silly enough to go running on broken glass). Since the foot has lost its ability to fully pronate, shoemakers generally believe that a shoe has to be padded, cushioned, gelled and reinforced. The reason being that it will make up for the feet’s loss of pronation range. Hence, the natural progression towards spending millions on technology research and charging you hundreds of dollars more per pair. On the other hand, I look at all these structured shoes like crutches. Yes, we may need it for a while. But, when we consistently wear them and use them, we can never regain our natural ability to move the way we were originally made to - Pain free, explosive and flexible. A plain simple running shoe that allows your feet to spread out is sufficient and good for any weekend jogger. It also happens to be much easier on the wallet! If you do want a fancier shoe, the Nike Free series would be a good buy because it goes beyond un-restriction of the feet; it mimics the shape of the feet and offers the feet much more control. Ultimately, the injury and pain does not come from the lack of a jazzed up shoe, but rather dysfunctional feet. My Feet / Knee / Shin / Calf hurts because of my Pronation. What do I do now? I would first make a wild guess that the sole of your shoe is eaten up excessively on one side of the shoe. This could occur on one or both shoes. Do not assume that both feet equally underpronate or overpronate. The first thing to do is to throw away all your shoes that reflect this unevenness. Go buy new pairs of shoes; neutral shoes that do not have excessive support. Have fun shopping, do it with a friend, a spouse or alone! After a while, if you do not buy new pairs of shoes, your recovery will be impeded because you never throw away the “crutch”. The next step is to slowly walk barefooted and as often as possible. You can start with your house, followed by the beach or park. The aim is to re-introduce your 26 foot bones and muscles to the sensation of the natural foot movement. They have been trapped in the shoe for all these years. Finally, you have to move into active rehabilitation to help your body recover its neutral state. It is not some costly procedure, but rather a series of simple movement patterns that specifically unlock your frozen foot muscles and reintroduce your body to its natural alignment. Some familiar exercises like yoga and pilates do help in this process. Nonetheless, if you want it quicker, faster and simpler, drop by http://phenogy.com to find out how you can be free of knee pains, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, flat foot, raised arch and other musculoskeletal injuries that are by-products of feet pronation. Even if you think that you are not suffering from any of this at the moment. Take 5 seconds to stand straight up, feet shoulder width apart…. Now look down… Are your feet parallel to each other? Both pointing forward? It is a disservice to yourself to cheat by correcting them. You have to look at your feet when they are at a relaxed state. Take a look when you go to work, or go shopping. If your feet flare out or curve in or are not parallel pointing to the front. It is a very strong hint of future musculoskeletal injuries, that includes the above conditions coupled with back, shoulder and neck dysfunction. Nonetheless, you may be that rare 1 out of 4 who have neutral feet. Congratulations and keep up whatever good motion that you already have!

How to Choose a Comfortable Pair of Shoes by

You've finally worn out those comfortable old shoes that you have been wearing for years. Finding a good pair of shoes is a bit like trying to find the perfect spouse; it takes a lot of looking around to find the perfect match. But shopping for shoes should not be a stressful experience. Here is a brief guide to help you find that perfect pair. The first thing you need to decide on is your budget, as this will limit which brands and perhaps styles, you can buy. Many discount footwear stores have great sales, sometimes giving you up to 80% off the original price or even running two for the price of one sales. So, if you see sales like these, take advantage of them!Once you've decided on your budget, you should think about what type of shoe you want to buy. Do you plan on being on your feet a lot? Do you want you shoes to be a fashion statement, or are you more of a 'sensible shoe' type of person? They are many new hot fashions this summer, ranging from dainty sandals to towering stilettos. While a pair of cute high heels may match your new skirt perfectly, they may not be right for you if you are going to on your feet, running around all day. So, make sure that you put some thought into where- and how long- you will be wearing them. When it comes to actually trying on a pair of shoes, there are some general rules that you should try to follow. If you can, try the shoes on late in the day, as your feet tend to swell slightly as the day progresses. If you plan on wearing socks with the shoes, remember to bring a pair with you to the store, so that you can try on the shoes with them to give you an idea of how comfortable they will be. Finding a comfortable pair of shoes should not be a challenge, especially if you know what to look for when buying them.

Shoes Gone Astray by

Dorothy lost hers. I forgot mine. My wife broke hers. I speak of shoes, of course.

So why are we all smiling?

Dorothy is that sweet little girl who broke in that bustin' bronco of a tornado, landing in Oz and inheriting magic ruby slippers from a dead wicked witch.

Yikes! I'm wearing running shoes for an important speech.

I know, I can buy a new pair when I land.

Too late; the stores are already closed.

What about in the morning?

No, tomorrow is Sunday and my speech is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

90 seconds later, the cold sweat had miraculously been replaced with a single affirmation: "I will improvise"

The next morning, I began my speech: "You might be wondering why I am wearing running shoes today. Well, it's about this petition here. When I'm done speaking, I'll be running door to door and I want every one of you to come running with me, too."

Don't ask!

As we locked up their house, my wife's sandal broke.

Perhaps the most important lesson here is that, contrary to popular belief, the shoe does not make the man (or woman). But the lack of shoes sure can build character.

And it gives us a great opportunity to improvise.

The Shoemaker Has No Shoes by

A funny thing happened on the way to work today. I realized that even though professionals preach health and well being, they might not have a clue how to get there. The old saying that the "shoemaker has no shoes" comes to mind.

Recently I have experienced several situations involving healthcare personnel supposedly in the business of holistic health. They purport to teach health and well being strategies. In all situations, projects were planned and commitments made. Individuals expressed desire to achieve the goal, but were unable to follow through. They become irritable and defensive when questioned. They respond with excuses and complaints stating that they have too much to do and not enough time to do it. They admit that they have been neglecting family and other important parts of their life. It's somebody else's fault. They play the victim. Yet they continue to see no contradiction in telling others how to run their lives, which foods to eat or not eat, which herbs to take, which supplements to buy to stay healthy.

Unfortunately, I see this all too often. Perhaps you do too. Healthcare professionals often focus on one way to achieve health, and ignore the rest. They focus only on diet or exercise, supplements or new age options. Or they become so over involved in caring for everyone else that they forget about themselves. They forget about the dangers of chronic stress resulting from life problems and lack of balance. Stress kills. Professionals who preach health on a daily basis, can let themselves become so busy and so stressed that their own health is at risk. But they don't stop long enough to see it.

These are usually good people with wonderful hearts and positive motivation who tend to focus on others and ignore caring for themselves. But, what kind of models are they? Over time, stress takes its toll emotionally and physically.

When you travel by air, the flight attendants tell you that if you have small children and there is an emergency, you must put your oxygen mask on first, before helping the child. Why? Because if you have no oxygen yourself, you aren't much use to anyone else!

Similarly, if healthcare professionals do not believe that managing their stress, balancing their life, and improving their health and well being is important, how can they teach this to others? Research is pretty solid on the fact that stress kills.

Chronic stress is a major factor in most chronic illnesses including fibromyalgia, heart disease, arthritis, migraines, gastrointestinal problems, cancer and more. If we do not model self-care, how can we preach it? Sadly, healthcare professionals rarely preach life balance either. They aren't even aware it's missing, in their lives or in the lives of others! Self-care is seen as selfish. Women especially feel guilty as long as there is one poor soul anywhere that might benefit from their help. These professionals end up with clients dancing just as fast as they are. They send their clients out of their office with the same expectations, limitations, and frenzied lifestyle as they themselves have. They never even notice. They're too busy.

Health care professionals, wake up! People depend on you. People's lives depend on you. Until you prioritize, balance your life, reduce stress, relax, and get real, don't expect your clients to. Their denial parallels yours. As long as you stay on the merry-go-round, they will stay. As long as you run around like a chicken with its head cut off, they will.

Many health practitioners and wellness experts are sorely lacking these days. All have their own agenda. Diet and exercise are the main focus it seems, followed by a few candles and some yoga. Eat this food and avoid that and everything will be fine. Workout three times a week or more and you will be healthy. Add a yoga class to your already busy schedule and you will be ok. Few take the whole person into consideration even though they say they do.

Let's face it, who do you think is healthier? A happy, laughing, stress-free person who eats cheese dogs in a white bun with chips on the side, or someone who eats only organic foods, no dairy, meat or white bread, takes supplements daily, and is so stressed that they bite everyone's head off and have no time to enjoy their life? People in great shape drop dead every day due to stress.

Learn to solve the problems that precipitate your stress. If you have trouble knowing where to start, hire a life coach.

Choosing the Perfect Horseshoes by

Horseshoes have become synonymous with good fortune. Having them on your horse’s feet has little to do with attracting good luck, but a lot with answering to your steed’s needs.Horses in the wild do not require shoes unlike domesticated breeds of horse. Those horses that are not worked out and trained regularly on hard ground do not need them. If a horse’s foot is hurt, you will not be able to ride it. In order to maximize a horse’s use, horseshoes are needed in order to protect the horse’s feet. In their absence, the hoof walls can crack. And a horse with sore feet will be of little use.One must check all four of the horse’s feet everyday. You need to pick them out and ensure that no dirt, stones or other foreign objects get stuck. Daily cleaning of the hooves is essential to proper hoof care, as well as going a long way in preventing any infection in this part of the horse. Failing to clean your horse's hooves on a regular basis puts him at riskYou must also check if the hooves get loose or no longer fits properly. Shoed horses also require the visit of the farrier about every 4 to 6 weeks. Each visit would mean placing new shoes. A horse’s hoof grows, just like our nails, thus the shoe will stop fitting correctly after some time. The functions and movements of the foot must be taken into consideration when fitting shoes.Commonly used for shoes are steel and aluminum. Your farrier can help you decide which kind is best for your horse. To make them lighter and to give them a better grip, a groove underneath are placed on most shoes. Those placed in the front limbs are circular, while those on the hinds are diamond-shaped.Few horses have perfect conformation and many have improper feet. Many horses have boxy feet or club feet while other may have broad flat feet and some have feet that turn in or out. And these characteristics of a horse's foot should be properly addressed. Some of these characteristics are dependent on the breed of the horse. Shoes must fit to accommodate the horse’s foot.Having the shoe is one thing, but a proper shoeing job is another. You should not try putting on your horse’s shoes on your own just to save money. The farrier is a trained professional in this aspect, and he has a more extensive line up of equipment and instruments that will suit the needs of your horse. He has tongs, pincers, pullers, nipper, pritchels and a special hoof knife for paring and trimming the foot. He will have the right size of nails to fit every size and type of shoe.Domesticated breeds of horse are dependent entirely upon humans for their maintenance and comfort. Horses are subject to many ailments. Foot diseases may cause severe lameness and may be made worse by owner neglect, so don’t take horseshoeing for granted.

How to Brand/Market Yourself and your Online Business on a "Shoestring Budget"...or even for FREE (Revised)! by

Article Title: How to Brand/Market Yourself and your Online Business on a "Shoestring Budget"...or even for FREE (Revised)! Author Name: Craig Lock Line Space: 65 characters Category (key words): Internet, online marketing, internet marketing, writing articles Internet addresses: http://www.bridgeniche.com/stepstosuccess/ and http://www.craiglock.com http://www.craiglock.com Publishing Guidelines: This article may be freely reproduced electronically or in print. "We share what we know, so that others may grow." "If you have knowledge, let others light a candle to it." - Margaret Fuller (That's a metaphor, btw). * HOW TO BRAND/MARKET YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS ON A "SHOESTRING BUDGET"... OR EVEN FOR FREE (UP-DATED) by Craig Lock(Please excuse my long title!)**Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to use the Internet and he won't bother you for months...or perhaps even years! (Sorry men... however, I presume this principle also applies to our women-folk!). Here are some tips in writing some articles to "spread the word" about your business, as an internet marketing strategy... and especially on the smell of an oily rag"... Me write an article! Yes, you can, because you know more about YOUR business than anyone else on this planet. And most importantly, I don't believe that you have to be a "pro" writer to write good articles. HOW TO GET STARTED?To "kick off"... Firstly pick a subject that YOU KNOW - a topic that pertains (nice word that!) to your area of business. You are the "expert" in it. Then write to HELP others by sharing your unique knowledge or experiences. I believe, it's the BEST MARKETING TOOL available. And (can I begin a sentence with "an and" - yes)... You DON'T have to be a good writer to write articles. My advice is just find your "natural style" by writing as you speak; as practicing writing in your "natural style" breeds confidence. Then submit your articles to ezines and announcement lists, like Article Announce, Free Content, Publisher Network, Article Xpress, FreeEzineContent, Free-Reprint-Articles, Netwrite-Publish-Announce and Article Publish. Those above are the ones we mostly use. Here is a list of seven ("lucky") of the more prominent Yahoo.com Article Announcement Groups: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aabusiness http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ArticlePublisher http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free-Content http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free_eContent http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Free-Reprint-Articles http://groups.yahoo.com/group/netwrite-publish-announce and finally, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/publisher_network/ First you have to subscribe to these lists (check out the others, as well some others, like the Topica lists under GOOGLE search engine). We find this marketing method by far the most effective means of getting traffic to our various sites (and one thing then leads to another)... and best of all the form of BRANDING your business in cyberspace costs nothing, but a little time and effort! Lately, all our marketing has been done through writing articles based on my experiences and knowledge (in internet marketing, writing, money and self help) and submitting them to the above-mentioned article announcement lists. Often from there they get picked up by ezines with large readerships - from 10000 ...to even ones with millions of subscribers. True! These big ezine publishers are continually looking for new and quality content, particularly ORIGINAL and valuable material that can help others. My advice is... Write about what you KNOW - your areas of knowledge and expertise, based on your unique life experiences. We find this strategy of SHARING relevant and practical information most effective of all in drawing traffic to our various web sites... and best of all, it helps others "out there in the vast void/realm of cyberspace". That is one of the main reasons why I write my various articles. Here are some other points in writing articles for the www:Firstly,* Identify your target audience.* Keep your title reasonably short* *.* Keep your paragraphs short.* Get to the point quickly (enough waffle with maple syrup, Craig!). * Target your article to your audience with "valuable and focussed information". * Use the occasional exclamation mark (!) to get your readers attention (not too many, mind you!). * Make sure your article flows properly. Re-read and re-read to see how it "speaks" to the readers mind. * Try to be concise in your wording. Brevity is the hall-mark of good writing...or so say many of the teachers of writing! (Though I don't necessarily agree with that last statement - always breaking the rules, Craig!).* Be credible (big word, eh?) at all times. I try to write my articles in a "conversational style with dashes of my funny/weird humour". * Put some thought and effort into your heading - again to get your reader's immediate attention. * Use bullets in your articles - its makes the points easy to follow (as I've used in this section). * Conclude with a strong message. The final paragraph should contain a message that summarises your article, or gets your reader to take further action. * Offer a free report with your article - this is an easy way to collect a list of adresses for marketing your product(s). An instant target market! * Finally, make sure your layout is good (not one of my strong points!), as this greatly enhances your prospects of getting published Some prominent article writers say one should write differently to one's natural style, when writing for the web . I say , DON'T. Just write what comes naturally...and BE YOURSELF. Though you may have to be somewhat briefer than usual, if you are a "waffler", like this writer. People want immediate information online and have limited time usually (and attention span online, like this writer). It's the "instant coffee, er sorry, generation. The internet is such an amazing medium for communication. I've just submitted this article and it's been published almost instaneously (big word!) in a few places (some article announcement lists). So YOU TOO can write articles on your chosen subject in your internet marketing efforts. MORE TRAFFIC = INCREASED SALES Your writing will improve with confidence... so just take that FIRST STEP, that leap of faith and watch what happens. Writers and internet marketers - Grab this moment in history well. Getting the Right Ballet Shoes by

Ballet shoes are said to be the ballet dancer's best friend. If a ballet dancer has the wrong ballet shoes, catastrophe can occur. Ill fitting ballet shoes can cause a new dancer to never learn the proper techniques. Improper balance and injury can also occur with ballet shoes that are not properly fitted. Any ballet dancer knows that properly fitted ballet shoes are of the up most importance.Ballet shoes have 5 parts. These are: The quarters, drawstrings, side seams, pleats, and binding. For properly fitted ballet shoes each of these parts should be adjusted to fit the dancer's foot to perfection. Ballet shoes should be fitted so that the dancer can feel the floor beneath them. In essence, ballet shoes should feel like a second skin.Ballet is all about grace, poise, and technique. To attain this, a ballet dancer must have excellent fitting ballet shoes. For the best fitting ballet shoes, necessary steps must be taken. There are also some tips and tricks that can help a ballet dancer achieve this as well. The first thing you must realize is that your feet can both be different sizes. This means your ballet shoes may not be exactly the same. It is not unheard of for ballet dancers to have two different sized ballet shoes. Try on various ballet shoes to see what fits best. The next step to properly fitting your ballet shoes is to be sure you are wearing tights as you would be when you are wearing your ballet shoes to dance. This will help to ensure a better fit. Never try on ballet shoes without wearing tights.Next, when you first put on your ballet shoes, pay attention to your toes. Stand flat on the floor. If your toes curl, you ballet shoes are not fitting right and you need to change your size. If your toes curl you cannot attain the proper technique while you are dancing and you will have a poor performance. You may also injure yourself if you cannot perform the proper dance techniques as a result of your toes curling. One more thing you should also pay attention to is if your ballet shoes are too big, you will curl your toes in effort to keep the ballet shoes on. This will also result in a poor performance, bad technique, and possible injury. The next step is to criss cross your drawstrings. Then "pointe" your foot. There should be no gaping in the width of your ballet shoes. This also means there should be no extra space at any part of your ballet shoes. Also, there should be absolutely no toe room. If there is toe room you will not be able to properly "pointe" your foot. You also will not be able to feel the floor beneath you. Hence you cannot perform any dance techniques properly.Properly fitted ballet shoes are the most important thing for a ballet dancer. With all of these things in mind, you should be able to properly fit your ballet shoes. This way you are sure to be on your way to a beautiful dance performance.

The Shoemaker And The Elves by

Remember the story of the Shoemaker and The Elves?

The shoemaker would go to sleep and the elves would finish any shoes he hadn't gotten around to.

Our minds function in much the same way, Our conscious, logical mind is the shoemaker. Our subconscious is the elves.

Give your conscious mind a goal, gather all the facts and let the elves do their work.

Many of our greatest inventions and discoveries have come after the scientist or researcher had given up and the elves took over.

The structure of DNA had baffled researchers for years. Finally, the double helix was revealed in a dream about intertwined snakes.

Around two years ago, I gave my little friends the task of providing me with an ezine article a week. I gathered the ideas and they wrote the articles.

They've written around 100 articles.

It makes my life so easy.

They do the work.

I get the credit.

When I sit down at the keyboard, the articles write themselves.

The next time you're stumped for an answer, gather the facts and move out of the way. The elves will be more than happy to do the work.

They're tireless.
